I've been shopping at Herrschners since the early 90s when I got addicted to crafts in High School. Herrschners.com is a fantastic site for the craft lover! They sell everything you would want or need for your craft projects.
The number one reason I go to Herrschners is for the Kits! They sell dozens and dozens of kits that include everything you need to create a project. My favorite type of craft is needlework, especially cross-stitch. This site sells kits in all sorts of designs and styles. You can get a needlework kit, for example, in a very simple pattern for the novice, or in a very complex pattern for the experienced. You can get designs that look cartoony, or designs that look real to life.
The needlework kits come with all the string you need (and then some), the cloth you cross-stitch on (whatever that's called), at least one needle, a pattern and instructions. I have a stamped cross-stich kit which is cool because the design is stamped right on the cloth. But I mostly do counted cross-stich which means you get a pattern with numbers and you learn to count your stitches as you go. Sometimes this can be tough because if you count wrong at one part, you could screw up the pattern. However as you gain experience, you'll learn how to work around mistakes rather than undo them.
The site offers loads of deals! Most of the kits I bought when they were on clearance. I get lots of emails and I go to the site to check out all the clearance items and usually I buy one every few months even though I have a billion unfinished projects. I can't help it! The kits will be on sale for so cheap! The only expensive part is the frames. I usually buy the frame for the item because it's easier to buy the frame and mat from the site then to find the perfect size later.
Even the novice can dive right in! I learned how to cross-stitch and latch hook due to Herrschners kits. The instructions are so detailed that it might seem hard at first, but once you learn it, it becomes so easy. I crocheted a blanket from a Herrschnerrs kit and while it didn't come out exactly like a blanket (turns out a crocheted too tight) it still was awesome for my first time! I've also done a few paint by numbers and people can't even tell they are paint by numbers. Suddenly I'm a painter! Who Knew!
The kits do take patience. You don't know how many hours I painted in order to finish 2 paint by number surprises for 2 people for Christmas one year. It was exhausting but it was worth it! A lot of the skills I pick up from Herrschners are things that cannot be lost. Years have passed since I first learned to cross-stitch, and sometimes I go months without touching any of my projects, but I still can pick it up any day and just like that I get back into it. I may have to review the instructions again, but other than that I never really lose the skill.
Go to Herrschners.com now for these two reasons:
1. Make something for you, your friends or family members that they will love because you hand made it
2. Buy some of the easier kits for the kids or novices in your life and get them into crafts!
You would be amazed how great your projects look once you put them in a nice frame with a nice mat! They look as good as a professional art piece.
I'll add pictures of some of my craft projects here someday when I feel like pulling my camera out. But until then, I've attached some pictures of the kits from the site that I have on my wishlist that I wish I would have bought because they are not currently available. Enjoy!!
