Heroes —
I can't say enough good things about Heroes! I really, really don't like the current state of television... "reality" shows make me sick, and I can't stand 90% of the "regular" shows out there. So trust me when I say that Heroes is NOT like the rest of the drivel on TV! Heroes is crammed full of interesting characters, exciting plot twists, fascinating powers, and great special effects.Admittedly, I came into the show late. I resisted the suggestions of all of my friends that I watch Heroes when it first premiered. I was really loathe to watch another boring, under-acted, brainless show, and I was just SURE that Heroes was going to be another cookie-cutter waste of my time. Somehow, I stumbled on NBC's website and found that I could watch the whole first season in streaming video for free. After the first episode, I was a junkie. I watched the ENTIRE first season (excluding the season ender) on NBC.com in a matter of days, and immeditely set my Tivo up to record the last episode of season 1 and a "season pass" for the second season.
The makers of this show (Tim Kring, especially) really seem to care about this show, its characters, AND its viewers. It's true that this season got a little behind, but trust me when I say that it still rocks despite a slow start. I hate to make this comparison, but I sometimes feel like Heroes is a sci-fi soap opera for "the rest of us". It inspires loyalty and LOTS of water cooler discussions at work, while weaving together enough different story lines to keep everyone guessing.
If you haven't watched Heroes, please at least give it a try. I was skeptical at first, too, but the excellent writing and realistic acting have won me over for good!
