My husband and I have a standing date each week: Some sort of unhealthy snack or meal, our couch, and Heroes. Thanks to the wonders of DVR, this date does not always happen at the same time every week, but nonetheless, the television shows that the two of us agree on are few and far between...
Heroes is one of those shows that, when it ends, does not fail to leave me with an utterly confused look on my face, and a "WHAT?!?!?!?" The producers and directors leave me wanting more - and unlike other supernatural, suspenseful shows, the plotlines are well thought-out and do not give me the sense that the execs sit and throw darts at a dartboard...
"Okay, it landed on death, so I guess we'll kill off Mohinder this week."
"Ooh...a possible romance between Hiro and Ando? Well, I hadn't thought about it before, but we must respect the board..."
A brlliant move this past season was allowing viewers to create and vote on their own "heroes" and then feature the winner in weekly webisodes.
The show has received criticism for "going downhill" in Season Two and never quite measuring up to its amazing first season. I blame the writer's strike for that - and I think that since then, the show has done an excellent job picking up momentum!
Think you'll get confused by jumping in now? Seasons 1 and 2 are out on DVD, and the current season's episodes are available online. Get sucked in...you'll be glad you did!
