Heritage Ceiling Fan - 30 in. White Review

I really didn't think that we needed another ceiling fan in our home, especially in a breeze way, but I think that my husband has an addiction to ceiling fans.  Or perhaps, he has a crush on the cashier at Meijer, where the fan was purchased. 

Regardless, we are now the proud owners of a Heritage 30 in. White Ceiling Fan.  Even though it looks like some kind of weird orb from outer space, it's functional and was inexpensive.  The regular price is $24.99, but my deal-seeking hubby bought it for a cool (pun intended) $19.99 on sale. 

The fan has 6 reversible blades, and has 3 speed controls:  High, Medium, and Low.  We usually keep it on medium or low, due to the whirring noise that it emits.  It's tolerable on the two lower speeds but is annoying when it's on high (think helicopter landing pad).  If this fan was in my bedroom, it would be bothersome to leave it on all night. 

The Heritage 30 in. White Ceiling Fan also has a light function and uses one 40-watt candelabra base bulb, which is not included with the package.  My hubby chose to install the new environmentally-friendly spiral CFL bulb instead.  The light isn't very bright, but we really don't use it anyways.

My handy hubby said that it only took him 20 minutes to install this fan.  It took me much longer to get used to its weird look and the above-mentioned whirring noise.

I don't love this fan but am slowly accepting it.  It does the job of cooling off our breezeway, but I really wish that my hubby would have spent a few more dollars (okay, $30 more dollars but who's counting?) and bought something nicer looking and quieter, such as the Harbor Breeze Bella Vista ceiling fan that's in our daughter's room.

Overall, the Heritage 30 in. White Ceiling Fan is functional and inexpensive.  I would recommend it to someone who needs a ceiling fan but isn't picky about the whirring noise or the sci-fi look of it.  For $19.99, we got what we paid for.
