* Bronze-orange liquid; towering frothy beige head with delicate lacing.
* Rich, round caramel malt aroma with nutty backdrop.
* Full-on caramelly-malty flavor exhibits faint toasty notes and distinct nuttiness.
* Body is mostly full and a bit clingy. Carbonation is soft.
* Finish is richly malted -though not necessarily sweet- and looooong lasting! Some throat-warming too (7.2% abv).
Synhopsis:
This beer has long been one of Italy's little secrets. Because Italy is not known for its beers, few people bother buying or tasting them. Moretti is one of two of the more popular breweries in Italy and while its flagship product is decent, its LaRossa is exquisite! "Doppio Malto" is Italian for double malt -and that's all you need to know about this beer. If you love malty beers, this one is for you.
About the Sound Bite above: Birra Moretti has been devoured by the Heineken corporation and I have reason to believe that the original recipe has been tampered with. As it used to be brewed by Moretti, this would have been a 5-Star beer.
