It is easy to get my dog to take the medicine without her knowing that Heartgard is medicine. She loves the flavor of Heartgard and looks forward to my going to the cupboard to get her another. I have been giving Heartgard year round for the past 4 years. If we don't give it year round our vet requires an annual blood test to check for heart worms. I really don't like to hurt my puppy any time, so to avoid the annual blood draw I have just resoirtedd to giving the Heartgard year round. I like the frequency of only having to give the medicine once a month. I also like the little stickers in the shape of a heart to place on the calendar as a reminder to give the next dose.
