Healthy Choice Portabella Marsala Pasta Review

I'm a busy mom and a big fan of quick and healthy dinners.  Therefore, I've been an avid consumer of Healthy Choice products for several years.  When I heard that they had a new line of frozen meals on the market, I eagerly snapped several of them right up knowing that they just HAD to be good.  

Boy, my optimism was quickly deflated after trying the Healthy Choice Portabella Marsala Pasta.  It was downright revolting.  In fact, it was so bad that even my dog wouldn't eat it.  I didn't even bother to try to pawn it off on my husband or kids.  The smell alone would have gagged them. 

Okay, so let's back up and go to the beginning.  What is the Portaballa Marsala Pasta you ask?  It's a 9 grain pasta with baby portabella mushrooms and marsala wine sauce, topped with fontina cheese.  Sounds delish right?  Yeah, that's what I thought too. 

I should have known that I was in for a surprise when I peeled back the film cover after cooking and a weird stench hit the air.  It was the portabella mushrooms permeating my air space and not in a good way.  Not one to give up easily, I wasn't going to let the nauseous aroma get in the way of tasting this yummy-sounding meal.  Note, that will be the only time that I mention the word yummy in this review. 

My first bite was truly awful.  It was almost enough to make me gag but I was good and continued to chew and swallow.  Thinking that this is a dish that one needs to acquire a taste for, I dug into the pasta not only one more time but for another three more bites. I finally waved my white flag and surrendered.  The Healthy Choice Portabella Marsala Pasta was one of the worst meals that I'd ever eaten in my life.  And this is coming from someone who mistakenly ate octopi once (ick!).  I'd rather eat octopi than this frozen meal ever again.  Yep, it was THAT bad.

Not wanting to throw out the remainder of the meal, I put it on the floor and gave it to my dog, who had been begging for this despite the awful aroma.  She gave it one sniff and ran out of the room with her tail tucked between her legs.  She must've thought that I was trying to punish her for something. 

So the Healthy Choice Portabella Marsala Pasta was pretty dreadful but it gets worse.  For the rest of the night, it kept trying to come back up and I continued to taste it - ewwww!  Unless you are having your worst enemy over for dinner, I do not recommend this meal at all.
