I have this lymph gland in the left side of my neck thats a little large.I brought it to my doctors attention because it has been there now a year and is not going away but the doctor says sometimes people  have them and it is alright but I am skeptic because I have had cancer when I was younger so it worries me just a little bit.Has anyone else had anything like this and if so what was it o do you have any advice?

I've never had this problem, but I would advise you to get a second opinion if it is worrying you.

You are kidding, right? You had cancer when you were younger and now you have a lymph gland that has been swollen over a year and you haven't gotten a second opinion. Go. Now. See Another Doctor!!

I am glad to her you are trusting your instincts and getting second opinion.  Take charge of your health issue by researching online what can cause a swollen gland.  You may not find the answer, but you may come up with some questions to ask your doctor.  Definately, get another opinion! Never put 100% of your trust in one doc when it comes to your health.  Some physicians are better than others!  Good luck!

A second opinion is definitely a good idea.

What kind of doctor is the doctor you discussed it with - a general practice or cancer doctor?

My hubby has had a swollen lymph gland  in the side of his neck for over a year. Initially, his doctor sent him to a cancer doctor who did a cat scan with normal results. However he monitored it by having him go back every few months. Within the past few months there were some changes including some other suspicious glands, causing us concern as well as the doctor, so the doctor decided biopsy would be a good idea. We were sent to a cancer surgeon/specialist. She was wonderful. She sent him for another set of catscans (an IV was involved for color). The scans were at the beginning of this past week. Friday we met with her. She decided the swollen glands can be considered still within normal range and would prefer not to do the biopsy. Now he just will go to the first cancer doctor many months from now. This was really really good news!!!!

Have you had a scan (with IV) done of your gland? It  would be very helpful for the doctor and you. It also helps give peace of mind. Prayer does too.

Please let us now what happens. Many blessings.

My cancer test came out normal. It was a blood work up that specifically targets cancer and it ended up being ok.The problem I am having is my gland has not gone down and not only that I have severe muscle aches and am tired quite often. My Thyroid test was great but my white cell count was 11.7 and 10 is considered normal. So does anyone know of anything else I can do.Somehting keeps my white cell count up and my gland swollen and they have no clue.I have not had the contrast thing done but I have had dye ran before and I was highly allergic to it and it almost killed me so that makes me a little sceard.Any ideas?
