Hasbro Furreal Friends Butterscotch Pony Review Summary

Is there a rooting, tooting cowgirl in your household? Maybe she would like to practice her riding skills on the Hasbro Furreal Friends Butterscotch Pony designed just for girls ages 4-8 in mind. One parent was thrilled, as was his daughter with Butterscotch’s abilities, she “ answers to her own name, she eats her carrot, when you sit on her and pat her butt she makes a galloping sound, it's wonderful. I think the adults had more fun with it than my daughter did.” Other parents appreciate that this toy can be the next best thing to having a real pony – but no clean up required. Not only is this toy pony lifelike, but the price may be considered “life like” too. At $300.00 some parents consider this interactive toy just a little too expensive for the limited years of use. Make sure to have batteries on hand, and you may want to assemble this toy long before the night before Christmas, as one parent states, “My poor husband was not a happy man on Christmas Eve night putting this thing together.” Read more Pretend Play reviews to find toys and games to encourage your young ones imagination.

The age on this is 4+ but we bought this for our 2 year old last year at Christmas.  She LOVES this thing!  Butterscotch answers to her own name, she eats her carrot, when u sit on her and pat her butt she makes a galloping sound, it's wonderful.  I think the adults had more fun with it than she actually did lol.  The price on it is a little up there, but in the long run it is so worth it considering how much play has been gotten out of this pony.  A downside is that it DOES take batteries, but they lasted a long long time for us.  The assembly wasn't very hard, you pretty much just put the... review »

Our the 4 year old daughter recieved Butterscotch Pony for Christmas.  She was thrilled with it, and 6 months later is still playing with it. Butterscotch takes a lot of batteries but we have only had to change her batteries twice. We even have the dress up set (not included)so our daughter can put a new blanket and leg warmers on butterscotch.  The horse makes realistic sounds, turns its head towards noises and voices, and makes a galloping sound and head motion.  My mother paid $200 for it (including tax) at Sam's Club and it was worth the money.

The only down side was the assembly was rough. ...

I bought the Furreal Biscuit Pony for my daughter when she was in kindergarten.  This was the best Christmas gift she has ever had.  She is now going on 9, and still plays with the horse from time to time, and he is still holdong up very well.  She did tug a bit hard on the ear, and it detached, but we have since put it back on, and it still responds to sound, etc.  She is a ver small girl, only around 45 lbs., but even if she were a bigger child, I know she would still love to brush it and talk to it, becasue she rarely sits on it anymore.  She just loves having it around.  Great investment.... review »

My daughter got this toy on Christmas morning, and you would have throught that she had gotten a real horse under the tree.  It is amazing too! It responds to movement and sound in ways that makes it feel alive.  It is fun to listen to it crunch on its carrot and clippy-clop.  My daughter can feed it, sit on it to pretend she is taking a ride, and generally loves playing with it for hours.

Although I love the idea of a toy your child can interact with similarly to interacting with a live animal, I'm just a bit skeptic of this item.  The suggested age of the user is 4-plus years old, but the weight restriction of 80 pounds limits some children from being able to use this pony.  Also, your child can sit on, but not REALLY ride the pony.

Perhaps its the small pieces (accessories) that keep it from being appropriate for a younger age group.  However, when looking at the display at a local big-chain department store, little tykes just flocked over to touch Butterscotch and watch her...
