Hasbro Elefun - The Butterfly Catchin' Game Reviews

Kids love games of any sort. Mine little girls have several games they count among their favorites and a few others they like, but with slight reservations. One game that fits into the latter category is Elefun, a butterfly catching game from Hasbro.

Game Commentary:

Elefun is a motor- operated game that features a plastic base shaped like an elephant. This elephant has a long, four- foot vinyl trunk that contains dozens of small "butterflies". These insects are vinyl in construction and are shaped like a bowtie. They come in several colors like green, yellow, red, and orange.

I enjoy playing games with the kids.  Yes, they are young, but we try to find games we all can enjoy, and I purchased Hasbro Elefun - The Butterfly Catchin' Game thinking that it could be fun for the whole family.  I was wrong, well sort of. . . 

Hasbro Elefun - The Butterfly Catchin' Game was first of all easy to set up, but also a pain. The box says 1.5v batteries, but it doesn't say if they are AA or C. So of course I come home try to use AA and it needs C. So, here I am with two little girls jumping up and down in glee wanting to play and not understanding why mommy bought the wrong batteries...

     I do not like the holiday season because there are way too many toy commercials on television.  I guess next season I will just have to leave the TV off during November and December.  One day my daughter was watching cartoons and she saw a commercial for the Elephun game.  I had already heard of the game, but I had never bought it for her because I thought she would be too little to play.

    Boy was I incorrect.  We went to the store and since we were working on her doing chores at home, she was good therfore we went to buy it.  I was distracted at the store and when I got home...

I bought this game because it looks like soooo much fun on TV. What they failed to tell you is it takes maybe 15-20 seconds to get all of the "butterflies" out. So then you have to constantly put the butterflies back in, which requires you to open up the trunk part. A young child wouldn't be able to play with this by themselves because of that.

 This is basically good for a playdate and that's about it. I don't recommend it.

My son got this game for a birthday gift.  It is easy to play and kept both of my children entertained.  Basically, a fan blows butterflies up and out of an elephants trunk and you try to catch the butterflies with a little net.  The butterflies blow all over the place and it is pretty hard to really catch very many in the small nets.

Overall, my kids like the game a lot more than I do.  The game seems to eat batteries very quickly.  And, the nets are very, very flimsy and tear quickly.  But, if the kids like it, it is a winner for us !

after  getting rave reviews from no less than 5 friends, we bought elefun.  it was SO disappointing. the butterflies took FOREVER to come out of the trunk and ultimately, it was so slow it was boring. we figured something must be wrong with this one since other friends say their butterflies SHOOT out of the trunk fuirously fast. the second one we bought was equally slow and continued to get the buttlerfies stuck in the trunk. not good odds and ultimately, even if it did work well, it's a BORING game.

What is it?
Elefun is a game for kids where there is a Elephant face and a long elephant nose.  Turn the power on and 30 little butterflies fly out of the nose and the kids catch them in their nets.  The one with the most butterflies in their net wins!

My Viewpoint!
Elefun is fun for the whole family.  Of course, Mom and Dad have to play on their knees to be fair, but it's still fun.  It's a game that has the kids up and moving and it's fast.  The one downfall that I do have is that the elephant...

I dont have a ton to say about this elefun that anyone else hasnt said. It is not something a 3 year old can play alone b/c it takes constant re-assembly. The butterflies are done flying out of the elephants nose in no time and then you have to put them back in. the top is not easy for little hands to take off.

I definately thought the price was way too high for the game.
