Hasbro Connect Four —

To the Point

At one point while my mom was in rehab a game like Connect Four would have been too hard for her to play! It happens to be my youngest daughter's favorite childhood game. She could never play it enough so I knew it well. When she was able to play we had a ball.

A Closer View

Just to note that www.amazon.com gives (http://www.amazon.com/Hasbro-4430-Connect-Four/dp/B00000IWI1) the recommended age at 7 to 14. The manufacturer (Hasbro) recommends 7 to 99. Given our circumstances I have to go with Hasbro on this one!

The purpose of the game of to build a row of four checkers (one player has red; one has black) in any way. The four can be horizontal, diagonal or vertical. The Connect Four game sits on two plastic holders (Although I did see a newer version with a slightly different base). I've always found the holders to be stable.

My mom and I took turns dropping the checker like circles into a row from the opening in the top. It might seem at first glance to be really easy - after all how can you not stop someone from getting four checkers in a row but you'll be surprised that in fact you may miss a Connect Four or in fact your opponent has you cornered in two ways.

You'll get 21 checkers of each color, the board and the holders for about $15.00.

Once we lost our electrcity for three days and we had an ongoing board game contest. This was one of the games we used - it is so simple and yet, rather hard :-)

Awesome. So many educational benefits to this game but just plain fun too.

My dad is ruthless at this game -- even as a grandpa but it is still an all time family favorite

I've found this to be a great game for all ages of family and friends too.

I hope your mom can enjoy games like this now. Sometimes putting together puzzles can help people in re-hab too (at least that's what I've heard).
