Hasbro Connect Four is one of our favorite family games. When I was younger and then with my now teenager children my family used to have Hasbro Connect Four challenges - the problem was my dad ALWAYS won! No wonder he loved this game, Trouble and Backgammon were his other favorites, all for the same reason.
Hasbro Connect Four is so easy to set up. You simply hook up the stand to the main piece and your are done. Each player takes turns trying to connect four of their red or black pieces in a row, which can be up, down, or diagonal. You do have to be careful that when the game is over and you push aside the bar holding in the pieces that the red and place checker like pieces don't go flying and get lost.
My four year old easily understands this game, and the fun thing about it is watching her play with her grandparents. it gets very competitive around here when a 4 year old is stacked up against her grandpa, because he doesn't believe in letting kids win, ok, maybe sometimes.
My teenager will still participate in a Hasbro Connect Four tournament without it being too embarassing, and to be honest, many of her friends enjoy the family game night too because it is something that they never do.
You do have to worry about the sturdiness and durability of the sides of this game. Since you place the two leg stands on and off it is easy to break one of them putting it away but Hasbro Connect Four is relatively inexpensive so you can purchase another one. I wish that I could just get the broken stand leg pieces - because honestly that is the one thing that has broken consistently on this game that our family loves to play.
