My husband and I wanted to experiment with a lower cost alternative to the expensive flea drops from the veterinarian. After seeing advertisements for the Hartz Flea & Tick medicine we decided to pick up a package from our local Wal-Mart. — — We liked the availability in that we did not need to order it or make a trip to the vet. The price was nice. However, it didn't take long to realize that purchasing this product was a mistake. — — The Hartz Advanced Care 4 in One Flea Drops Plus comes with 3 vials in a package. It has a nice baby powder type of scent and… read full review »

Hartz flea medicine is the worst flea and tick preventative medicine I have ever used. I would never recommend this product to anyone. We used it one summer on our 3 dogs because we were low on money and thought we would try Hartz to see the difference between it and Frontline. Our dogs became infested with fleas! It was horrible. I've never had fleas or ticks on them at all before and they were suddenly covered in them. It was like using water, it didn't do anything. It is very cheap medicine and it shows. I went back to Frontline and will never switch again. —… read full review »

I just recently came into a slight flea problem and am trying to minimize it.  I thought by going to buy this product, since it was right at the store, that it would be effective enough to treat a few fleas on my two dogs.  Boy, was I wrong.  I was even told by my groomer that the treatment only last two weeks if that....I don't even think it worked at all.  I checked them again, and there were a couple of them on them that I had to personally go after with my nails!  This product is worthless, in my opinion.  I'm going to be purchasing some Frontline/Frontline… read full review »

I didn't have time recently to go by my vets office before they closed and pick up flea control for "my girls" (I have 5 dogs).  So, while out and about on the weekend picked up Hartz flea control at Walmart and administered the appropirate dose/amount/size to each of my girls.  The next day my 17 year old Chihuahua had a seizure.  I found out that it was caused by the Hartz flea control.  They had me take her home immediately and wash her with Dawn or Ivory liquid to get the topical sliminess off of her.  I was on pins and needles all that evening and prepared to… read full review »

I also wanted to try Hartz because it said on the package that it would kill fleas and flea eggs, stopping the flea cycle, but it did the opposite. It was almost as if it attracted the fleas because this last summer, we had a horrible flea problem, so I would give our dog a bath with flea shampoo, let it sit for 5 minutes, watch the dead fleas go down the drain, dry him off, and check him thoroughly, then as soon as he would go outside to go potty, I could see the fleas jumping on him because he has white on his legs and it was so easily visible that it wasn't doing its job. Cheap product and… read full review »

I would NEVER trust my dogs flea or tick problem with an over the counter cheap product like this. I guess these products are needed for people that can't afford the HIGH COST of such products like Frontline, K9 Advantix, Promeris, etc. There should be something out there affordable for the average, to low income pet owner, Adams would be the only one I could think of that would be of possibly an acceptable product that works, although I haven't tried it. I use K9 Advantix and am VERY PLEASED, —… read full review »

Not only is this stuff harmful to a small dog but it smells horrible and gets on everything for like a week. I'd rather spend 12 bucks every 1-3 months to buy frontline or advantage from my vet than to ever subject my dogs to this stuff. My dog saw this stuff in my hand when I tried to apply his second dose and he ran because he hates the smell so much. Frontline or Advantage is alot safer not to mention it actually works and the dog doesnt really even notice the… read full review »

Before trying frontline I tried out this product on my dog. It is a waste of money. I continued to find fleas on my dog. It was not expensive, but then again, it didn't work one bit, so I would suggest buying a product such as frontline which does work. I would not recommend this to anyone.… read full review »
