For the first time in her life, my dog had fleas. I found out on a Saturday evening when the local veterinarian offices were closed. I was desperate and hence my purchase of Hartz Ultra Guard Flea & Tick Drops.
I also purchased a flea shampoo that night and gave my beloved pooch a long and sudsy bath. I saw the dead fleas after I rinsed her and waited until she was completely dry before applying the Hartz drops. I was feeling pretty confident that we'd get the flea problem fixed in no time.
I couldn't have been more mistaken. After a few days with no signs of fleas, they suddenly...
read full review »Hartz flea medicine is the worst flea and tick preventative medicine I have ever used. I would never recommend this product to anyone. We used it one summer on our 3 dogs because we were low on money and thought we would try Hartz to see the difference between it and Frontline. Our dogs became infested with fleas! It was horrible. I've never had fleas or ticks on them at all before and they were suddenly covered in them. It was like using water, it didn't do anything. It is very cheap medicine and it shows. I went back to Frontline and will never switch again.
Hartz should be sued in a class action suit and pay damages to the owners fo the pets its product has killed or harmed.
Hartz Mountain's flea and tick products have a deplorable safety record over the years. They use a 40 year old pesticide ingredient, phenothrin, in the volume of 85.7% which is a dangerous neurotoxin that has a documented history of injuring and killing thousands of dogs and cats. Hartz's cat and kitten products were terminated by the EPA in 2006 after the EPA issued a Cancellation Order in the summer of 2005. The EPA was overwhelmed with the number of adverse incidents reported by pet owners. Please check with your veterinarian before applying over the counter flea and tick products--you...
read full review »I had seen this harts flee product onthe shelf of my local Wal-mart. Not needing any flee treatments for my dog at the time Imade a mental note to myself about it. Being a single mother of three,in this economy today it would save me some money on flee and tick drops, and the vet visit as well.
Not long after that day I had realized that my dog had flees. I went to Wal-mart and purchase the harts flee drops along with the harts flee collar and house spray.
Two days later, my dog still had flees and they had gotten to the point that the flees were jumping on...
read full review »I would NEVER trust my dogs flea or tick problem with an over the counter cheap product like this. I guess these products are needed for people that can't afford the HIGH COST of such products like Frontline, K9 Advantix, Promeris, etc. There should be something out there affordable for the average, to low income pet owner, Adams would be the only one I could think of that would be of possibly an acceptable product that works, although I haven't tried it. I use K9 Advantix and am VERY PLEASED,
I wanted to try this out while browsing the walmart pet aisle andbought two boxes with these 3 tiny tubes that killed not one flea. The Fleas went swimming and smelt strong that day but still alive.never will i buy this stuff again and will buy from 1800 pet meds or the vet.
This summer was a bad summer for fleas in our area and I tried Hartz and other flea medications and I agree that it was a waste of money. I have found that the vet recommended flea medicine was the most effective.
