Clearer View Of The Past And Present, Memorable New Characters

Our third year at Howgarts brings Harry new challenges.  There is a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, who has a unique relationship to Harry which over the course of the book he discovers.

Year three presents numerous challenges to Harry.  This book has all the things you would expect from a Harry Potter book, but in my opinion this is the book that switched the series from childrens book, to all ages.   JK Rowling brilliantly shifts her plot lines setting up the remainder of the series in this book.

The book begins with an escape from the wizard prison Azkaban.    The ministry of magic believes that the escapee is after Harry, so every precaution is taken in order to protect Harry.  Harry learns alot more about his family and the unique and special relationship his father and mother had in the fight agains opression ( Voldemort )

We are introduced to quite possibly the most repulsive magical creature I believe that JK Rowling created. They are called dementors, and they feed on happiness and live in the darkness and dank.

This book, was the first in the series that I read, causing me to go back to the beginning so I could get the entire story.  This book is my personal favorite in the series.

5 out of 5
