Most HelpfulSome things from the book are not here and others have been abridged considerably, but you shouldn't expect all 900 pages of book to be on the screen.
How they have adapted the book to screen is impressive and the actors we've watched mature through the other films have just gotten better, more professional...

Most HelpfulOne notable thing about the Harry Potter book series (and the film series that echoes it) is that as the children get older, the themes and plots get more mature as well. As the children grow into young adults, news of the return of Lord Voldemort and an impending war leads several students at Hogwarts...
review »Tonight I saw the fifth installment of the Harry Potter movies, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, at my local theatre with some friends. While it was not my favorite of the five movies, it did not disappoint.
The movie takes place during Harry's fifth year at Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Lord Voldemort returned at the end of the last movie but was temporarily defeated by Harry. Unfortunately the wizarding newspaper and the Ministry of Magic do not want to believe that this could be true and have stationed a Ministry-approved teacher at the school to keep things...
review »As a fan of the Harry Potter series of books, I was very happy to see Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix Movie available for free through our cable company. I was happy to watch it that first time and I've watched it several times since then.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix follows Harry, his best friends, and The Order of the Phoenix as they diligently work to fight Voldemort and his Death Eaters. Because the Ministry of Magic gets involved with Hogwarts and refuses to allow the students to actually practice defensive magic, Harry and his friends form "Dumbledore's Army"...
review »Wife and I went to see this movie without the kids a couple of days after it came out. There were no children in the whole theater. We were really surprised. We loved the movie, we were a little disappointed about it not following the book more closely but then what movie ever really does? I thought the character of Doroles Umbridge wasn't protrayed true enough to the book, but if you haven't read the book then you won't find that a problem. The movie could have been longer and gone more in depth about the Order. Seems to me that lots of good important stuff was left out about the Order members....

At first, I neglected to read the Harry Potter novels. Instead, I just watched the films. Thoroughly enjoyable as they were, I never had a desire to read the book until I watched Order of the Phoenix and was left with a big ??What?? So I asked a friend who had them all to let me read the fifth book and was shocked by the amount of editing. The lost plotlines (Hagrid's firing/the attack on Mcgonigal), the bizarre interpretation of sequences (the death at end and the location of characters at end) are just two holes left by the film. I know location of characters doesn't seem important...
review »This movie a great movie if you are a fan of Harry Potter. The book is really great book with a lot of details that for time sakes had to be left out. The movie does justice to the book. The characters and the plots just get better with age. The plot of this book is darker than the last installments, but you have to remember that " He Who Must Not Be Named" is back and is out for revenge. The books and the movies continue to develope the friendship between the main characters and show the world what working together can accomplish.
Snape has been one of my favorite characters from the...
review »All right, Harry Potter is growing up, and so is the series.
While this movie is not the best of the five, it certainly qualifies as a very entertaining one. The movie is much darker the the rest. Harry has grown, and so have his powers, but he is pitted against much stronger powers and circumstances.
Evil lurks around every corner, and Harry and friends must face each evil in turn.
As the series progresses, it appears to be aiming for an much older audience. I'm afraid the youngster who enjoyed the previous movies will be scared to death watching this one, unless they have an adult around to explain...
review »I loooove Harry Potter...I love the books, and i am getting used to the movies. With the first movie i hated it. I felt like they left too much out and added too much in - but i kept reading the books, and felt obligated to watch the movies as well...who doesn't love seeing a great action/adventure movie on the big screen??
This was a pretty good movie - But they did leave a lot out. I felt like by the time the real action got started, it was over...acting was good though, and it was a good movie, especially if you didn't read the books - cause then you don't know what you are missing ;)
Went to see this movie for my birthday with my family and it was really good, but not as good as the book. Most people that haven't read the book would understand much of what is going on in the plot. But then most people that haven't seen any of the other movies or read the books would actually go see it anyway.
I'm really looking forward to the next movie and I am re-reading all the books in order. They left out some key plot angles from the book. But it still was worth watching again and I will buy the movie when it comes out on DVD!
This was my favorite of the movies so far. I think they did a great job with the battle at the Ministry. I cannot wait for the DVD to come out.
Emma, Daniel and Rupert get better with each film! Alan Rickman was awesome. The entire cast was excellent. I have really enjoyed the perspectives of the different directors on the film and this one is no exception. This is a must see for any Harry Potter fan.
