Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix —

Some things from the book are not here and others have been abridged considerably, but you shouldn't expect all 900 pages of book to be on the screen.

How they have adapted the book to screen is impressive and the actors we've watched mature through the other films have just gotten better, more professional and more interesting.

Yes, the story has grown darker and isn't for little kids anymore.  That means is much more interesting, complex and moving.

This is one of the best movies of the year and one of the very best fantasy films ever made.

No one will listen to Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and he faces expulsion when he insists on being heard.  HE who must not be Named  has been reborn... Voldermort (Ralph Fiennes is back.  The new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher (Imelda Staunton) and Harry are at odds.   And the opening attack of the Dementors starts things off with a bang.

It's dark, but there's some humorous moments throughout that everyone will enjoy.

I shall not mention anymore... but if you have been following the films at all, you'll have a blast.  If you've been reading the books and following the films, you should be very pleased with what they've done and how they brought it to the screen. If you thought the book was bloated and too much... this film moves like a race car and the 2 hous and 18 minutes flies by.    This is fantasy film that adults will find as fun and exciting as the teenagers will.

WOW...

Bravo.. great show.

I'm looking forward to seeing it again at the Imax where the last 30 minutes are in 3D  !!!!

 4 and a 1/2 stars  raised to 5.

Great review, I saw the movie last night for the first time. I thought it was great, even though i have not read the book. I just wish i could see it in Imax!

Hey, Chris, nice review! I enjoyed the film, too, but it took me two viewings to admit that (the second was in 3D - it was great)! I agree with Cat - I had a little difficulty getting over how much was left out. But I'm glad that the movies are well-paced. The film adaptations of books one and two were detailed, but rather boring. I thought Azkaban was the first really fantastic movie, and Goblet and Phoenix have followed suit. Now I can't wait for Half-Blood Prince and Hallows! They should be just different enough from the books to be really worth seeing!

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I felt that so much was left out though that I was a bit disappointed by the movie. There are so many strange and wonky details (and characters) in JKR's books that there's no way they can present them in a feature length film. We found ourselves saying, "Oh what about...? " when we realized another plot point had been glossed over. It's just the shortcoming of the medium I guess. I think it would take a week-long miniseries set of films to cover the book fully. Great review!

I took my 8 and 6 year old this weekend. It was an outing organized by their school. They were a little scared, but overall seemed to enjoy it. Probably a bit too mature for them, but not terribly so. Thanks for the great review. I enjoyed it too. Gotta read the books.

Great review. I have all the DVDs and I was supposed to go see this opening night. I ended up with some people who wanted to go to this party and blah blah blah. Long story short, I was really upset. >.<
