The Case

After six books, untold hardships for our characters, and years of waiting, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has been released. And I was a participant in the madness. I theorized about the plot. I hazarded guesses over who would live and who would die. I was at a midnight party, waiting breathlessly for the stroke of 12. I read the book in less than 8 hours. So, the question is, did it live up to the anticipation? Did it rise to the challenge? Did it meet the high standards created by its forerunners? Yeah, I think it did.

Note: As this book is still only a week old and time of review, I'm trying my best to make this a spoiler free review. 

It's the end of July, and the Harry Potter phenomenon has come to its official close.  With the publication of the seventh and final Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, author J.K. Rowling has penned an enjoyable, fast read that stays true to the story arc set forth in the first six books, while retaining an air of unpredictability.  Except for the ending that is.

I finally got to read the last of the Harry Potter series. I have re-read all of them with joy. I was truly disappointed with the last book. The first part drags with them running around with the tent. I but the book down and finally returned 2 weeks later to continue,Later we find Harry and Dumbledore in a white room and all sorts of facts are revealed. I felt this was a begining writer type of thing to do. Did someone else finish the book or was she in such a hurry at the end? Then all of a sudden we advance years and people are married, etc. I had to read this part 2X's to understand...

There seems to be 2 sides to the reviews on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows.  I am about in the middle.  I ordered the book in advance so I would get it on the day of its release.  I had already read all the previous books and was addicted to them.  I just had to see how it all ended.

Once the book came, I couldn't put it down until I was done reading it.  It was a fast read but very engrossing, just like the rest of the books.

 I liked how this book drew everything together and you saw the insides of the different characters.  The only negative I had was that she decided to make Dumbledore...

This book is a great wrap-up to the series.  I tried hard to stay away from the spoilers on the Internet, but accidentally heard a few.  Some were true, some not...and in the end, it did not spoil my enjoyment of the book.  I read it straight through the day it came out.   The only things that disappointed me were that there was not more info about Harry's parents and his family's history, I was hoping for more of that.  Also, I wanted more about some of the other characters, like Luna, and how their futures turned out.  I hope Ms. Rowling does come out with another book like she has said...

This iconic, series comes to an end!  As sad as I was the morning that the book came out, as I filed into the store with the many  others waiting to get their hot little hands on the book I couldn't help but feel a slight sadness that this was coming to an end.

I was fortuante enough to get caught up in this series in the beginning and was part of literary history following the story and watching JK Rowlings deep and complex plot lines unravel.  She is a true artist.

Book 7 has us with Harry in pursuit of horcruxs which are an Item believed by Harry to be able to defeat the ever looming threat...

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a great culmination of a fantastic series. While I hated to see the series end, the author managed to tie up loose ends and even throw a few surprises into the mix in this last book.

I do think the ending left off too abruptly. I wish more had been shared about the Harry's life after the defeat of Voldemort. Like many others, I guess I hope that J.K. Rowling will write a second series about the aftermath of the destruction of the Dark Lord.

All in all, it is definitely worth the read even if you have not read the other books in the series. Rowling writes...
