It's over . . . I have finished the Harry Potter series and J.K. Rowling promises there will be no more.

I fell in love with these books late, long after the rest of the world. We were at Lake Almanor and decided to watch the first movie on DVD since it was the only one up there we hadn't seen. By then, the second movie was already out on DVD, too. After the movie, I was hooked and had to read the book. Usually, I read the book first, but I had dismissed the Harry Potter books as kids' books and hadn't bothered to read them. Boy, was I wrong! I was sucked in by the first page and devoured all the ones in print. At that time, there were only four. Every book since I made sure I reserved and then reread all the prior books before the new one came out.

These books are riveting. I stay up reading them until my eyes won't stay open. From the moment I open the cover, I am lost in Harry's world, living all his adventures with him. I cry and laugh out loud while I read. I gasp and comment and sometimes read parts to Cameron, even though he hasn't read any of the books. Sometimes I have to back and reread the exciting parts, because in my hurry to find out what happens, I sometimes skip a line or two.

Now Harry's saga is over. I am sad that I won't have the anticipation of waiting for another book to come out, and the eagerness to read another chapter in Harry's battle against evil. All good things must end, however, and I do, after all, still have two movies to enjoy! And, as a teacher, I can introduce new fans to Harry's magical world and watch them experience the same wonder I did when I first turned the pages of this epic tale . . .
