Frost-A-Window comes on a 9-foot by 18-inch roll (similar to Contact paper). The waterproof vinyl has an easy-to-apply adhesive back, and was also easy to cut. I measured my windows and determined that I would have to cut two widths per window. Luckily for me, our windows have mullions between the interior and exterior panes of glass, so it was easy to use the location of the mullion to join the two widths of vinyl together. From the outside, the frosted vinyl appears seamless, and from the inside, you can barely tell where I joined the two widths together.
Frost-A-Window removes just as easily as it goes on, yet it stays perfectly in place. It's meant to be applied to the inside of your window; it's not really suitable for outdoor use. I love this solution because it is extremely affordable, and it gives me daytime privacy without blocking the daytime rays. I still use the window shades, but only at night.
Overall, Harriet Carter Frost-A-Window Vinyl Window Covering is one of those small solutions that can make a big difference in your home. Besides "Frosted" there are other translucent patterns available (Lace, White Plaid, and Stained Glass). Frankly, I thought the other versions made too much of a statement, and I was only interested in a subtle way to control light and privacy in my room. This product costs just $4.98 per roll (or $8.98 for two rolls) and would also work in a bath, a front door panel, mirrors, a glass vase, or even glass light fixtures. Just use your imagination.
