This device is made to provide a more permanent way to use your iPod in your vehicle.  It has the standard connector for your iPod.  It works better than the usual FM modulators.  The toggle wheel allows you to search for songs, artists, playlists, etc with one hand still on the steering wheel.  It has a mounted display for the text that usually appears on the iPod screen.  The newer version even has a color display for album art, etc.  I did end up sending my Durango to the stereo installer to mount the unit. (This unit is not necessary if you have an audio input jack in your stereo.)
