This 2008 H.D. FLSTN of mine ran soooooo "HOT" when I bought it that I filed a D.O.T. complaint. We all know how much good that did. I then proceeded to add:

         1)   Two (not one but 2) Jagg oil coolers    [did not cool enough]

          2)   A cam with long duration and high lift for the exhaust valve.

           3) free breathing air intake and free flowing exhaust pipes

            4) a special tuner ,S/E race tuner, because of the modifications.

The bike now runs quite cool---after I spent another  $3000.00---that is, after my initial outlay for the bike of about $18,ooo.oo.

How hot did it run originally, you ask------ oil temps=300-350 degrees

                                                                        head temps=almost 400 degrees

and mind that these temps were a distance of about three inches(3") from my seat, read rear end .   Temps NOW: oil=200 degrees---head =295 to 300 degrees

Harley Davidson needs to be held accountable for their HEAT problems. These problems should not be shuffled off on unsuspecting customers, namely you and me.

NO any time you pay for a cycle the amount of money that you spent--YOU should be able to expect the cycle to perform under most any set of circumstances and NOT need to SHUT DOWN because of heat or any other excuse ! Normal operation of the cycle should not be dependent upon keeping it in a highway environment for cooling. Maybe someone should advise H.D. that they have a HEAT problem. (I say that facetiously--H.D. knows about the problem--this problem is the topic of many, many Harley Davidson forums--and is only remedied by throwing a lot of YOUR money at the problem. H.D. loves this as they are the recipient of this money(to cure THEIR problem)
