Love our Happy Heiny's

5

We love our Happy Heiny diapers. I have the All in one (with snaps) diaper. I love that it is just like a disposable, but is a cloth. I would totally buy more if I had more cash on hand. I have a Happy Heiny size Medium and love it as well. It fits well. The only thing I don't love about the all in one Happy Heiny is that it can be very bulky when on a wee little one. I think this is the case for almost all diapers and surely for all one size cloth diapers. they are very easy to clean, and amazingly they stay clean even after a lovely infant poo and a toddler poo. I haven't experienced many leaks with them, although if you don't change the diaper it will leak on you. I would suggest changing the cloth diapers at least once every 2 hours.

Happy Heiny's run big!

3

Happy Heiny One Size Diapers run very big. They may not fit your baby until 6 months of age or more! The front rise snaps fasten down to shrink the leg holes. Those 8 snaps across the top do not serve any extra sizing purpose that I can find. They leak from the back all the time, because the pocket opening is huge and when my baby rolls, the insert slides up the back and gets the sheets and clothes wet. They fit babies with thicker legs better. These are definitely not going to fit well on a skinny or slim baby with chicken legs. They are not particularly absorbent. Also, the ones with microterry inserts are really pretty crappy when it comes to absorbency. The microfiber inserts work a big better. Compared to the snaps, the aplix gives a better fit.

Decent but not my favorite

We got a Happy Heinies to try after finding the super adorable cow print they carry. I loved the design and I only buy one size diapers. These are easy to stuff and easy to clean but I don't think they hold as much wetness as other similar pocket diapers. They are acceptable for daytime use but I do not recommend them for heavy wetters, nap time, or night time use. The outsides do get wet and a little soggy sometimes if you use them for that. The pockets and velcro hold up well to many washings. So far we are using it on our second kid since we got it and it's still in decent shape. It washes well and doesn't hold ammonia smell so it's worth the price if you like their patterns and colors for pocket diapers.

Pretty good diaper

We only have one of these diapers. I bought a bunch of different kinds to try to figure out what I like the best. These rank near the top, but they are not the top spot. They have adorable prints and colors which is what drew me to them in the first place. I also like that they are nice and big so they accomodate my son's chubby thighs much better than some of the others out there. They also come with 2 inserts so that you can have a newbrn insert while your baby is small to reduce the bulk. Then as he/she grows you have a bigger insert and you can use the newborn insert as a doubler for overnights or trips out of the house. These diapers so however leak a little bit more than some of the other ones. I don't know if it's because the leg openings are bigger or not. But if your baby has smaller legs I would recommend going with a different brand. These are great for bigger kids though and many of the other brands do not offer the same variety of prints.

Happy Heiny's One Size Diaper = Too big

3

I found that the Happy Heiny's One Size Diaper with Snap Closures run big. I purchased this diaper with high hopes because my son is chunky especially around the thighs and I thought this diaper would be a dream come true. it quickly became one of my least favorite diapers. The diaper is so big that I can not get a good fit around the stomach or the thighs. Every time we have used this diaper we get leaks out of the leg holes and I am sure this is due to fit issues. I think the velcro version may be better but I can not find myself to buy one of those.

GREAT one size pockets!

4

I really like Happy Heiny's diapers. I used the sized ones and the one sized ones, and I like both. They are well made, with high quality PUL and fleece. These are called one size diapers, but I would like to say that I have never met a one size diaper that actually fits a newborn. These started fitting for me when the baby was around 10 pounds. The crotch on these is very wide, and looks a bit awkward but because they are so soft and squishy I don't imagine it to be uncomfortable. The fleece on these pockets is rolled out, but don't let that scare you. They don't wick, or transfer moisture onto clothes, unless you go far too long between changes, in which case any diaper would wick. The elastic at the back is great for containing poop explosions, but I have experienced some exclusively breastfed baby poop leaking from the sides. It doesn't happen offen enough for me to give these a bad review, but it does keep them from getting five stars in my book. The inserts that come with these diapers are great - very, very absorbent and they fit perfectly within these diapers. I have used other, more common inserts with these as well, such as the BG one size insert, and those work great in them as well. You do not have to use the inserts in these for them to work.  I will also say that these diapers fit bigger children very well. My son potty learned right before his 3rd birthday, and he was about 34 pounds and 39 inches tall. The Bum Genius had long been outgrown in the rise, and these worked great, with more room to grow. I do like these diapers a lot, and I feel they are a very good value, and I recommend them.

Happy Heiny's are super soft

4

Happy Heiny's were some of my first cloth diapers, and I was very impressed at their softness.  They make cloth diapering easy, they are super easy to wash, and of course they save a ton of money in the long run.  The velcro is super heavy duty stuff, and if you wash Happy Heiny's with your other diapers and the velcro doesn't stay attached to the washing tab, then pulling off the Happy Heiny's from your other diapers after laundering will likely ruin the velcro strip on the other diapers.  I only had four of these diapers, and I had to stop using them, - even though they were some of my favorite - because I had to wash them by themselves, and I just don't have time to separate my diapers by brand before I throw them in the washer.  I still use the inserts with my other pocket diapers though, and the inserts are by far my favorite over my other brands.  They are a little thick and bulky, but they absorb everything, and we've never had a leak.

easy to use never got a good fit

I have tried many various cloth diapers since switching my daughter to cloth 2 years ago. These are some of my least favorite. The things I like about them are they are economical, easy to use, one sized so they will fit from birth-potty training (and they have 4 sizes so they realisticly could fit from birth-potty training), they are gentle on babies skin, good for the environment, they have a stay dry cover and they really do keep the moisture away from your babies skin, and lastly they have really cute patterns. The things I don't like about these diapers are I just can't seem to get a good fit for my skinny daughter, they always hang down and just don't go tightly on her legs. I also really dislike the velcro on these diapers. I am a snap kind of person but this velcro is even worse than most and gets stuck to everything when I am washing them. They are good quality diapers but not great for me.

Happy Heiny is approved by this dad.

My wife told me that I should wirte a review on the Happy Heiny's Once Size with Snaps Cloth Diapers to give a point of view from a father since most of the reviews are given from the point of view of the mother's.  The monkey diaper one is my favorite one to put on my son.  It is easy to put on even when he sqirms around which he does a lot know that he is older.  It is easy to take off alothough I let my wife take care of most of the diaper changes.  Cloth diapers do scare me because they seem like more work and I have been use to th disposable diapers.  However using the Happy Heiny's ones has been very easy.  I have noticed that there are not stains in the Hapy Heiny ones like there are in the cheaper Ebay versions we have.  But then again my wife says that the Happy Heiny's are better quality and that is why.  I do have to admit that I like watching my son play in the cloth diapers better than the plastic disposable diapers.  So from a dad's point of view these diapers are easy as far as diaper changes and have saved us a lot of money.

Happy Heiny's--Cute but not functional for us

3

Being new to cloth diapering we bought a few different brands and styles to find the right fit and absorbency for us.  Our experience changed over time.  When we started with the Happy Heiny's daughter was 7mo and 13lbs.  This diaper just would not fit her.  This diaper seemed to just swallow her--large and bulky and inserts were quite wide and not very absorbent.  The diaper was so wide in the middle that her legs were stretched quite far apart and made her uncomfortable.  I did like the overlapping velcro closure . . .  super nice compared to other brands we tried.  We discontined use of this diaper for a couple of months and then tried it again when she was 9mo and 15.5lbs.  It had a much better fit at this point but still not as good as the other brands we had.  It still leaked around the legs and the top when she was playing or sleeping on her tummy.    I know other mamas that swear this is the best diaper for their babies though.  I think it fits larger babies much better and it doesn't leak as much when I use a different brand (cotton/bamboo) insert with it.  It does wash up nice and dry quickly.  The velcro is strong and the diapers we have are very cute prints.  We are hoping they will fit our little one even better as she gets bigger.
