Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker 5.5-Quart Oval Review

Have you ever considered feeding your pets real food, right for them? Commercial kibble gives dogs mostly cereal which they cannot assimilate, but it's a cheap filler. My 3 dogs, all rescues and blended breeds, get an expensive kibble as a base, and they adore the smell from my slow cooker. When their dishes are set down, they can't wait!

My 5.5 quart oval Hamilton Beach slow cooker was a gift. The actual cooking dish is heavy ceramic. I can set it "low" or "high". I most use the lower setting to cook the dogs' food overnight. When I smell it when I first walk out to the kitchen in the morning and start to grope for the coffee mill, it gets my own stomach juices going. As an independent senior business woman, I only use the slow cooker when I'm having my son or other people over to eat. I prefer to make small meals for myself, but the slow cooker is perfect for the dogs. I create layers of carrots, winter squash or pumpkin, sweet potato, chicken breasts, a chicken leg or two, and a cup or so of water and turn it on. Oh yes, I use frozen green beans in the pot too.  I've learned from dog breeders that dogs love yams, but that regular potatoes make them put on weight. Another great tip is that green beans are good for doggie weight loss...would that work for me, I wonder?

Now that I use my Hamilton Beach slow cooker, I have a lot more free time. I'm not cooking for my 10-year-old black Lab, Rottweiler mix or my 9-year-old golden-eyed, mustard colored Pitt Bull, yellow Lab mix or my one male 4-year-old black and red-haired Shepherd mix with eyes like a deer nearly as often as I was before. The slow cooker allows me to make enough for 3 days' worth of meals. I'm so glad I have it and recommend you check out how much healthier your pets can be when you cook for them.
