The idea behind the Hamitlon Beach Coffee Maker is fabulous.  There is no coffee pot to break, and no burner to leave unattended.  You simply put your coffee mug on the dispenser and coffee pours directly into your cup.  It's a really nice, different idea, but I didn't think the coffee tasted as well as it does coming out of a glass coffee pot.

The Hamilton Beach Coffee Maker makes the coffee quickly.  However, you do go about making it slightly differently.  There is a chamber that you can pull out to clean, this is the area you pour your water in.  This chamber is made of heavy duty plastic, and unfortunately, this is what I think made the coffee taste a little funny.  Because there is no burner, the coffee is heated inside this plastic chamber.  I purchased this coffee maker for work, and my boss (among others I work with) told me the coffee tasted like plastic when it was made with this coffee maker.  I also tasted something a little unusual.

The price on this unique coffee maker was very reasonable.  Less than $ 60.00.  As I said before, it makes the coffee quickly.  Twelve cups brewed in just a matter of minutes.  There is also a nice feature that automatically shuts off the coffee maker if it's left on for more than two hours.

There is a built in water filter that is supposed to make a better tasting coffee, and for some people, it does taste better.  Just not for me.  I enjoy the taste that I get from my regular coffee maker, and think I'll just stick with that.

I think the coffee tastes funny too. I think it is because the coffee is made so quickly, the water does not have enough time to properly soak up the coffee flavor from the coffee grounds. If you look at the inside of the maker, the water holes are considerably bigger than on most coffee makers. this makes brewing faster, but it also means that there is a greater amount of water flowing over the grounds faster, resulting in a weaker coffee.
I loved the idea of a coffee dispenser, but I do not like the watered down taste of the coffee.
