My sister-in-law gave me this Hamilton Beach 59735 1 Speed Handheld Blender because she bought another one that had more gadgets.  She is more of a gadget geek than I am.  At first I wasn't quite sure what to do with it but after talking with her, I realized that this little gadget has a lot of uses.  It turned out to be quite a handy tool in my kitchen and come to find out, she only paid $12 for it.

The Hand Blender

According to the manufacturer, this immersion electric hand held blender has an ergonomic grip and a stainless steel blade that is durable and won't rust or absorb odors.  It also has a unique blade guard that prevents splattering.   This unit has an extra-long 5 ft. cord, is equipped with a powerful 120-watt motor and a push-button speed control.  The unit measures approximately 3-1/2 x 14 inches.  There is a 1-year limited manufacturer's warranty.

My Experience

This little blender is quite versatile and very handy to have in the kitchen.  I have used it to mix drinks, make whipped cream and mix cake mixes.  When making drinks that require ice, I did notice that this blender couldn't quite handle the job of crushing whole ice cubes.  Luckily, I have a refridgerator that has a crushed ice button so for me, it's really not a big deal.  I am impressed though that it works well when I make mashed potatoes.  I didn't think such a small blender could be durable enough to do the job but it is.  I love not having to drag out the hand mixer or the big blender for little jobs.

This unit  is so easy to clean too.  All I have to do is unplug the unit and hold the blade portion of the blender under hot running water to rinse clean.  Can't get much easier than that.

Final Thoughts

This Hamilton Beach blender is durable, versatile and a snap to clean.  I recommend it and am giving it a 4 star rating.  I would have went with 5 but decided to take a star off because of the ineffective job it does on ice cubes.

I kinda want one. but NOT for my birthday. That is when you buy me stuff I actually will use like makeup and body butter. Heh. But this does look kind of useful for us.
