With a daughter in college, I am acutely aware of the cost of textbooks. Since her cvollege doesn't have a book store, she would have to run around to other schools &/or Barnes & Noble in downtown Manhattan to get her books. It is amazing to me that we can get most of her books at half.com for more than 75% less than what we would pay at a college book store. The range of subject matter available is incredible and sometimes the postage costs more than the books. The books we've received have always been in good condition, and the descriptions the sellers use are accurate.

I ordered a graduate textbook online on August 14.  My credit card was charged the following day and the confirmation I received said I would receive the book between August 25th and August 25th.  OK.....  It took 11 days for the book to be shipped.  ELEVEN DAYS!!!!  Now it will be an additional 4-8 days or up to 12 days (so they say) before I'll actually get the book.  I have five chapters due in less than a week.  Now I'll have to go to the campus bookstore to buy the book anyway, thus making this "half price" plan cost me 1-1/2 times the cost of the book.  My credit card company...

This site saved my meager college budget! I was able to save hundreds of dollars on my graduate studies text and study aids. This site is easy to use, with a reliability factor unmatached by any other site. I found the individual sellers and buyers (I would use the books and then resell them the next semester) honest and willing to answer questions about reducing shpping for multiple purchases, condition, refund policy, etc.

Half.com is serious about keeping the integrity of site. There are mechanisms for tracking items, evaluating sellers, commenting on process and they have a good customer service...

I am not a book collector.  I don't read the same book over and over again.  I just want to get the books I want to read at the lowest price I can find, read it, and pass it on.  Half.com is perfect for me.  I don't have to wait out an auction and get sniped at the end, I can just click and buy at bargain prices.  I don't mind used books at all as long as all the pages are there and not torn, or written on, and the binding isn't falling off.  I would rather get more books for less money than buy new or get collector editions, or what not.

I have used Half.com to sell and purchase many items for several years now. I have never had a problem with ordering and buying. Selling your product is quite easy with their personal database.

I have used Half.com for used college books when I couldn't find my daughter or son's college books many times. They have a rating system, that I thought worked well. I even found a school book once and the guy was local, I contacted him and asked if we could meet for the purchase, and had it the same day.

I also comparison shop on Half.com before I put some media or books on ebay or craigslist for sale...

Both my son and myself are attending college and if you have ever been there you know the text book are so expensive.

One book for one class I was taking was selling in the college book store for one hundred fifty nine dollars brand new. outragous!

I searched half.com and found the same book, same edition, used, for  twenty five dollars not including shipping.

the seller gave lots of info on condition and it semed that it was a good deal!

I went for it and was so pleased. Now it is the only place I will buy my text books!
