Hairspray Review

I was a bit uncomfortable watching actor John Travolta playing a woman but, Hairspray was still very entertaining to watch.  Hairspray was originally written and directed by filmmaker John Waters in 1988.  This re-make starring John Travolta, Christopher Walkin and Queen Latifah, is set in Baltimore in the 1960's.  We watch as a pleasingly plump young girl named Tracy Turnblad (played by Nikki Blonski) goes on an amazing journey as she realizes her dream of dancing on a popular TV show.
