Hairspray Review

This movie has an all star cast, including John Travolta, John Voigt, Queen Latifa, and others. It was definitely funny, but at the same time just a tiny bit off putting (to me personally). If you don't already know, it's got to do with race issues in the 60's...once the children in the movie finally get rid of 'Negro day' on their favorite television show and it becomes integrated, all of the black girls somehow become provocative. This bothered me somewhat, as all of the black dancers/singers were loud, flashy and again, provocative. Otherwise though, it was a good film and worth watching if you don't let things like that get to you. Loved the cast and the soundtrack!
