Hairspray Review

The absolute best thing about this movie was seeing John Travolta as a woman.  He did a terrific job playing the overweight mother of the main character.  Also, it was comical seeing he & Christopher Walken playing husband & wife.

With that said.....I am so glad I did not go to the theatre to see this.  I know it's a musical, but the singing!!!! OH THE SINGING!!!!!  It was probably 90% horrible singing, accompanied by a little storyline.  If it hadn't been for the fast forward button on the remote, I don't think I could have finished watching the movie.  Everytime they'd break out in song, both my sons would roll their eyes and start complaining. 

I've seen the original version of this movie, and liked it much better.  The updated version does have a terrific cast, so maybe I was expecting too much from it?  Either way, I don't think we'll ever watch it again.
