Not as good as the original

I really wanted to like this movie more. I am a fan of the vast majority of the actors and actresses involved and overall they each did a fine job. The problem was the material. I feel they over politicized it so that it was like being bonked over the head, enough that it was distracting rather then enlightening or entertaining. At the same time they dumbed it down and tamed it back. The music was fine, nothing amazing but fun and catchy. The dancing on the other hand was only humdrum, a bit dull and as cute as Blonski's character, she just wasn't that good of a dancer. Nothing in the movie really caught me or stood out. Fine to watch in the background while surfing or doing other things, but not worth a deliberate second sit through.
