Hairspray Review

I saw this movie the first time on a whim with a friend, we did not know what to be prepared for. What a surprise it was that from the moment the movie started until the ending credits, we were laughing, crying, singing and just plain enjoying ourselves immensely.

I have loved many of John Travolta's movies but never have I seen him as an aging plump woman!! His character was afraid to leave the house because 'she' had gained so much weight, and Travolta played this perfectly. But by the end of the movie he was singing and dancing - just as if this was an aging plump but very graceful woman.

Nikki Blonsky is incredlibly perfect in her first movie, her voice is beautiful, same with her facial expressions and her dancing. She has amazing chemistry with Zac Efron's character, I just wanted to watch them keep on dancing.

I loved 'Negro Day' when the blacks were allowed to dance on the show - Queen Latifah was perfect for the role. When Nikki Blonsky said 'I wish every day was Negro Day', that was one of my favorite lines in the movie.

I have since rented this movie twice and am hoping to receive a copy for the holidays. I highly recommend it to anyone with a funnybone!
