First of all, this is not a re-make of the John Waters classic. The original inspired a Broadway musical, and this movie is the filmed versin of that Broadway show. Keep that in mind, and you'll probably like it more. Many John Waters fans were disappointed in this version. I wasn't. I would have preferred that someone other than John Travolta play Edna, but he was passable. Would have been nice to see Harvey Fierstein in the role. Newcomer Nikki Blonsky and Mr. Teen Idol Zac Efron did a very good job, as did Amanda Bynes, a staple of Nickleodeon children's television. Queen Latifah really shines on I Know Where I've Been. I had no idea that James Marsden could sing and dance. He was outstanding as tv host Corny Collins. It's always a treat to see Christopher Walken do comedy, and this was no exception. I recommend the 2 disc edition, as it has many extras (like dance lessons and karaoke!!)
