I've only ever owned one Haier air conditioner, and it was not a good experience. After only two summers, the thing would completely freeze up almost every night.  The coils, the vent, everything would be like a popsicle, and I'd have to leave it off overnight for it to thaw.  This meant I had a puddle of water underneath the air conditioner when I woke up.  Not only that, but it was impossible to keep the inside clean.  It would repeadedly get clogged up with dirt or dust, and would not work at all.  My other two air conditioners I've owned since this one did not do this at all.  Two years is not acceptable, given the price I payed for this machine.  I do not reccomend this brand at all.  It may be more affordable, but from my experience, it does not last long enough for it to be worth the price cut.  Pay a little more, and it will benefit you in the long run.  Probably the only good thing I can say about this machine is that it's small enough to fit in most windows.  Not enough of a selling point to reccomend it though.

My husband (then boyfriend) lived in an apartment that had a poor ventilating system. We found this little window unit at a discount store. It was a great value for the money. He used it for two long summers. There was minimal coolant leakage on the outside of the unit and it rarely needed any cleaning. It came with two remotes. Very nice if you are in bed or on the couch and don't want to get up to change the temperature! The temperature gage was pretty accurate. Although the unit is smaller than many other window units out there, it will do a great job cooling two or three rooms on its own. In my opinion, it is better than a large unit if you are not attempting to cool an entire house with it. It is light light enough for me to carry on my own with no issues. We recently purchased a home and sold this unit. We actually held on to it for about six months before letting it go because it was such a help. Definitely purchase this unit if you are looking for one.

This air conditioner does almost everything it says. It was easy to install in the wall. Fairly easy directions to follow, and the price was right. It cools my large bedroom within 5 minutes and in fact keeps my second floor at a bearable temp without any other air conditioners on. We replaced our old AC with this one and because it did such a great job we didn't have to install my daughters AC in her bedroom down the hall. That being said, this AC is not quiet. What I learned to do because I am a light sleeper is shut the AC off and set the timer for a few hours later to go on. So far so good.
