Our house has a 12x16 addition that the previous owners hadn't planned very well at all. They didn't have a ac/heat vent in it, I guess they were trying to avoid paying taxes on it. But it doesn't matter as it is included on the taxes anyway. I've heard horror stories all my life about living without air conditioning. It is horrifying to hear my parents tell of growing up and working on farms whose houses did not have air conditioning. What really gives me chills(which I need in this heat) is that they were not in Antarctica but Eastern North Carolina which can have monstrous summer heat and humidity. Fast forward fifty years, and here I am in Eastern NC with my Haier air conditioner, 5200 BTU. I recently purchased the Haier HWF05XCB Air Conditioner.  I was worried at first because it was making a lot of noise, even though the box said super quiet running.  I quickly realized that my husband had not followed the instructions for installing it!!!
