Best Phone of 2013

5

I have been personally using this phone for 4 months now, and through 2 updates, I can say that this phone is one of the best for 2013. I have experienced a few small slowdowns, but that was due to my abuse of the phone. The display is phenominal and more accurate than my 32" HDTV by Vizio, and in my opinion is a better choice than the galaxy s4. The build quality is unbelievably amazing, and the metal gives the phone an extremely premium feel. The galaxy s4 is plagued by slowdowns, and my girlfriend (7 month owner of the GS4) does give me some complaints about the phone. The speakers on this device are also extremely loud and clear, they can pump up without distortion. The included beats audio preset is good for those unaware on the methods of using an equalizer. This phone has many, many good qualities about it, and only one bad point. The phone's camera is excellent in photo quality, but due to the special UltraPixel camera, the resolution is only 4MP. The design allows more light to enter and better night photos, but in high digital zoom the pixel difference is noticeable from a galaxy s4 or LG G2. Battery Life There is a power saver mode that works extremely well. I can be using my phone for large portions of my day with it's power hungry LTE on all the time. With an app like Go Power Master as well switching modes based on your day, you can easily get 7+ hours of use. Stand by and light usage nets me over 14 hours. I typically use my phone for GOS navigation, video streaming, music, texting and facebook, and playing intense games like Dead Trigger. Display/Screen Quality The screen is full HD 1080p and an LCD. It runs to a viewable brightness at 100% in direct sunlight. The color reproduction is very accurate and not over saturated. There are apps to edit your screen calibration as well, but I am very satisfied with this screen. Call Quality The other side can hear only my voice and no ambient noise due to the superior noise cancelling mics. On a noisy talk filled bus, the person I'm calling can clearly hear me in a pretty high quality audio stream (with 2 or more bars of signal). Ease of Use It's android, it'll take you about 5 minutes to learn where stuff is, and everything is guided. Durability It's metal, it scratches with abuse, but stands up well to drops. The beats logo rubs away after 2 months partially. Design Design is sexy, bold, and quite attractive. Not much more to say.

I love this phone so much.

The phone is very easy to use and I think it has a pretty decent battery life. The graphics on it are amazing, and the sound system is really good for a phone. My only complaints are that the size is a little weird, and that when the battery dies, it has issues turning back on. Also, due to the layout of the buttons when you're on the phone, it is easy for your cheek to hit the mute/speaker button, which is inconvenient.

Fantastic smart phone.

Overall this phone does as it's expected: good speed, reliable antenna, switches between 3G and 4G well, and has a good camera to boot. I was wavering between this and the Samsung S4, but in the end, this phone won me over with the antenna, and speakers eventually being the determining factors. Unfortunately the Samsung phones are notorious for having bad signal quality.

Dream Come True

When you hold this phone it FEELS like an extraordinary phone. It's the perfect weight, not at all heavy, not at all light. It definitely has a presence. I've heard many people compare this phone to the iphone 5 even. All I can say is the screen on this phone is absolutely divine. I loved watching Netflix on this phone. It's crystal clear, perfect size. You can stream movies right in your bed. Even play games! This phone is very easy to handle. It's like this phone has always been a part of you.

Best Phone I Have Owned

4

This phone has been the best that I have owned, and I have had about 5 since smartphones really hit their stride. It is fast, has great features, an awesome camera and plenty of storage space. My only real complaint is I do not like this new design concept where you cannot have an SD card or remove the battery. It has been durable and looks great. Battery Life Battery life could use some improvement but overall is fairly decent, normal use it will last all day but if I am running multiple apps or doing lots of internet browsing it will die quite a bit faster. Display/Screen Quality Probably one of this phones better features is the screen display, it is crystal clear, perfect size and scratch resistant. Call Quality The phone itself is clear, but my service is not always great so it is hard to fully judge. However, in areas with strong signal the call quality has been excellent, very loud speaker options which is a definite bonus. Durability My son actually dropped my phone into a full glass of water and after letting it air dry for a few hours it was in perfect shape, I was shocked to say the least. Other than that I have dropped it a few times and it has not been affected whatsoever. Design I have this phone in red, and I LOVE it, it looks amazing and completely different from what all of my friends and family have.

HTC One Android Phone

This is a phone with lots of great things to it such as apps for the phone, 4G capability, awesome camera and more. The down side is that it loses connection to the network/sim card frequently and I have read up on this as it is a problem many people with this phone have had. The phone has an excellent camera, all pictures I take look as if I am still standing there. It has lots of storage space which is a plus for someone like me using mulitple apps. The speed of the 4G on this phone is excellent when it is working, as stated previously it does lose connection with the network. The battery life is something to be desired as well. With the apps that I run, my phone loses battery very fast. It also memorizes the apps that you use most and moves them to your homepage for even easier access to those apps. I also can set the apps to alert me and keep the phone on silent so when I receive a message about an app it doesnt bother me, it moves it to an alert que at the top of the screen.

The HTC One

The only problem I have with this phone is the connection goes out at times. The 4G connection won't work at times also. I love the 4 ultra pixel feature for the camera, the pictures come out nice and crisp! The phone also downloads very quickly and effectively.

Everything your phone isn't, even in 2014.

The HTC One is a work of innovation, pure and simple. Although the phone has been out for a year and I've had it for this long, I still don't think other new phones can be better than this one. I'll mention a couple of things I don't like about the phone (but they aren't bad enough to give it a lower rating). I miss the physical keyboard. I know I can get a bluetooth one but that's a waste of time and money in my opinion. They're not coming back so I have to live with that-and the talk-to-text feature helps me do that. I'm saddened that the One doesn't have expandable memory. I like to be able to save things to an SDHC card, take it out and put it in a computer or mp3 player or whatever else. (I know it's a stone age thing but what can I say? I like 5,000,000 BC tech.) However, I'm comforted by two things: 1) I can now just put everything in the cloud and 2) there's 32GB of hard drive space on the One. I'm one of those people who want the most space available and will only use a fraction of it. So I know I won't use it but I like options. 32 gigs is a pretty reasonable option to my eyes. Battery Life With minimal use, I can go a day without charging my phone. This likely has a lot to do with the poor reception in my area (Sprint: the Fail Network). I (temporarily) switched service to ATT and had a One prior to getting Sprint's One. AT&T had amazing service in the area and the result was using the One for 12 hours non-stop with heavy app usage before it reached 0%. Display/Screen Quality I haven't used Netflix on it but the quality is amazing for apps like Crackle, YouTube and IMDb (for watching movie trailers and clips). Call Quality Calls are always clear, even over speaker phone. They don't sound like the person is right next to you but when that's mastered, it will probably be an HTC phone to feature it first. Ease of Use It's idiot-proof. Mostly. Durability I drop this phone at least once a day, and every time I say, "Good thing it's made of aluminum." Design I'm not sure why it took so long for someone to put dual speakers in the front of the phone but I'm glad they finally got around to it.

Beautifully designed phone with many features and few negatives

Overall this is a very nicely designed phone that feels amazing to hold and use. It is very fast browsing through your apps, the web, or playing a game. The large display is crystal clear with outstanding color reproduction. BoomSound speakers offers clear audio reproduction that beats most portable speakers in terms of quality. It has sufficient volume but don't expect to fill a whole room. Stereo sound makes watching movies without headphones a great experience. Only possible downfall is the increased bass response with certain headphones due to Beats audio. Easily powers some mid range audiophile headphones. The camera seems to do a very good job in a well lit area until you zoom in to more than 40% (before or after) when you can clearly notice a degradation in quality. Prints however have come out amazing especially after some editing to remove purple tint explained below. On a monitor and full screen image the lower quality can be spotted. Some users have reported a purple tint when taking pictures in darker areas (caused by the automatic high ISO and lens). My phone suffers from the extreme purple tint but still manages to impress me because other phones do not even show the subject! The tint can be edited. Some users have also reported that sending the phone under warranty to HTC has fixed the problem (hence the not perfect score). Taking video with this phone has also been a treat. The image stabilization alone makes your videos 100x better. Additionally, you have the ability to take pictures while recording making it easy to capture the action. Lastly, the microphone does such a good job that you can use it to record in areas of high volume without distortion (tested in multiple indoor and outdoor concerts and events with great results!) Battery Life Battery time on the stock android version it was shipped with (Jelly Bean) was already pretty good. However, after an update to Android 4.4 (Kit Kat) the battery life has blown me away. I can have my phone with me for the whole day (15-16 hours) without the need to charge. Typical usage includes 3+ hours of music streaming on LTE, 1 hour of navigation, 30 minutes of calls, plenty of text messages, Skype and WhatsApp as well as approximately 30 minutes of web browsing. Some might still complain about the removable battery but that's up to each user. There are various alternative mobile power options available now. You might notice the device gets particularly hot when playing games or charging* Display/Screen Quality Screen quality is outstanding. It is very clear and crisp making it easy to read text or enjoy anything your heart desires. I truly prefer this screen over Samsung's AMOLED on my older phone. Although the quality of the Retina display on the iPhone seems to provide a little more quality the screen size of this phone makes it much more enjoyable to use, especially for reading or watching a movie or TV show. Call Quality I have had friends tell me I sound clearer than on my previous Samsung Galaxy SII. All calls are clear. Only problem that may be encountered is during use in noisy environments where even the loudest volume might not be enough (even with the great speakers) but this also goes for all my previous phones. Ease of Use Let's face it Android is not the easiest software to use when compared to iOS particularly for those that are not tech savvy. It takes work to get your home screens the way you want but once you achieve it there is no going back. For those more adventerous, there are plenty of developers out there that have made ROMs available for your phones for the extreme customization. Flashing is very easy. Durability It is a very solid phone that feels great with its one piece aluminum back casing. No squeaks or rattles as with the plastic that Samsung uses. I have used the phone for 6+ months now without a cover and have only scuffed the backside slightly (non noticeable). I have tried a few cases and none have done any justice to the beauty of this phone. Design As mentioned it is a very well designed phone that is not only great to look at but also to hold and use. The BoomSound speakers do a great job and are placed perfectly to enjoy stereo sound when watching video. The volume buttons may be a little hard to press for a few people especially with a case.

Absolutely Best Phone for your Buck

I love the HTC One. After being an Apple lover for years, I switched to the HTC. Android technology has come a long way. This phone has amazing media features. The sounds are Beats Audio and feature speakers in the front of the phone instead of the back. I've had this phone for almost a year and it has been well worth the money. It has yet to freeze up on me! I would highly recommend this phone to anyone sick of IPhones!! Display/Screen Quality Absolutely awesome screen quality!
