Patience Necessary

I remember this phone - it was the first 'real' smartphone that I owned that I wasn't borrowing at night from my mother to listen to music while I read books. I had a rather love/hate relationship that ended in my phone literally dieing right in my hands and having to get a replacement. And I had to witness this ordeal. Tragic, I know. It was a big phone with a nice, large screen, a decent camera, and good video/music playback. However, all that ended pretty much there. The battery life was pitiful. In fact, it was downright pathetic. On all terms of the scale, it was an utter, epic **FAIL**. Just flipping through various pages on the internet would make my poor little battery go from 100% to 20% in literally less than a half-hour. Don't even ask about playing games or watching YouTube... Apps never properly worked on this thing, and I had to constantly reboot this phone because it would stall and the wifi connection would go haywire. I tried downloading Spotify for Android and the app never worked properly - it never even played any of my songs, just skipped through them without a peep. This phone was also notoriously slow and took a long time to start up, a long time to open this and to open that, to close this and to close that. Then, it died. It was such a complete shock to me when I went to charge up my phone when quiet morning, plugged it in, and when I squeezed the start-up button, the screen flashed and then fizzled. I repeated the same sequence and my phone, thereafter, refused to come on. The little charge indication light in the upper right hand corner was not showing. I never knew what exactly happened - I never dropped the phone and took great care of it, and even with a battery change, it still refused to come on. My new HTC One is so much better. So, so much better. In short, you must be a very patient person to enjoy the HTC HD2 because this thing will work on your nerves.

HTC...sleek, sexy, but still needs MUCH WORK!

The HTC HD2 overall is a good smartphone, pocket pc, or whatever name you may have for this sleek device.  The UI is user friendly, but at times can get a little sluggish.  As far as lightening speeds go, it's fast, but I would'nt say lightening.  The camera is great and the light does a great job in low lighting. The big beautiful touchscreen makes for a more pleasant view while looking at movies and viewing apps.  This is a good phone but still needs something tweeking.  Would purchase a later model if it came out, but not the first version!

The HTC HD2 is the most amazing phone

5

The HTC HD2 is my current smartphone, and it is amazing.  I've never owned a smartphone before yet I already feel like I couldn't live without one.  This things does everything I need such as checking email, texting, web browsing, etc. This phone is hugely supported in the development community.  Countless Android roms exist allowing you to dual boot Windows and Android on your phone!  With Android obviously comes all the perks to having the OS, making the phone even more powerful. I'm not sure what I'd do without this phone.  It's like having a miniaturized computer with me at all times.  It's especially useful when I'm in bed and want to check on something online, but don't want to have to get out of bed to do so. I can't rate this phone highly enough, and you'd be a fool to turn it down.  The only possible downside to this phone that I can think of is the fact that it uses hard-buttons instead of soft-buttons.  I enjoy the latter more.

The HTC HD2: This smartphone is not so "smart"

3

Well, where do I begin! There are so many cons with this phone! I have the T-mobile version of this smartphone! To start off, I purchased my brand new HD2 in March, handled it with extreme care and never dropped it. By July of the same year I had to order a replacement! It had started freezing up numerous times throughout the day, and needed to be restarted (including taking the battery out for a minute or two) and usually this never helped, I was doing this atleast two times every hour, if not more! I could have put up with that if the charger port had not come loose inside the phone! It had started by just being annoying to deal with, having to have the charger in the phone just right, and having to sit it a certain way to get it to actually connect with the phone. Then all of a sudden it wouldn't even do that anymore! Once this happened I was not able to charge it anymore, no access to my contacts, camera, or anything else that I had stored on the phone. Which is something no one wants to deal with. So that is when I called to get a replacement. The next day my "new" (replacement) had arrived via UPS and I was excited to have my phone back. it is now March of the following year and I am already having problems with my replacement charging. It still has to be placed a certain way for it to charge. It has been freezing up alot over the last couple of months and this is not due to the amount of storage availiable, I make sure that I keep my memory cleared of too much "junk." I would hate to see how it would run with a full memory! I also need to mention that the replacement had the 2nd version of the HD2 software installed on it, where as my original phone had the 1st version. With the 2nd version, I have jus one comaplaint. It is that there is a new "My account" feature, that automatically opens whenever you try to call customer service. And it takes a while to load before you can close it, to actually get to proceed with calling them. It may be helpful for some tasks, but I prefer talking with an actual person when trying to troubleshoot or fix anything with my phone. Now, on to the "pros." There actually are several good things about the HD2 phone. My favorite is the internet sharing feature, which enables you to plug your phone into a computer and it will give you internet anywhere at any time! It is the only reason that I would put up with all of the negative features this phone has! Another great thing is the camera, it takes very clear pictures and has an awesome flash to it, that is one thing most phones lack. It acually gets rid of the need for a digital camera, therefore having less to carry with you. The sound and picture (graphic) quality are also outstanding. Another feature that I love and find most helpful is being able to talk and surf the mobile web at one time. This is helpful if I am on the phone with someone but also need to look up a number in my contacts, or if I want to play a game or just browse the web while chatting. This also makes it easier to troubleshoot your phone while talking to customer service at the same time, getting rid of the need to have another phone line to call them on. This is one phone worth getting if you are online alot or need a good camera phone, I will have a hard time if I ever have to switch back to a regular phone.

HTC HD2

i was given this phone as a gift for my birthday and at first everything was going great. i was excited to have a smartphone that i could put apps on(first smartphone i had(do have an ipod though). i did not yet have the data plan so i could only use the wifi to use the marketplace. after several failed attempts to stay connected to the wifi(not just my wifi i tried it at other places and houses) i finally got in and found that there are nearly no apps and even less are free. after downloading an app that i paid 7bucks for my phone freezes and i have to take the battery out. alright enough with the cons, i do like the large touch screen and the swipe feature while texting. the camera is pretty good, although i wish it could zoom in more but its a phone soo.. i enjoy having microsoft office on my phone and checking my email(when the wifi works). the case mine came with works quite well, and its easy to find stuff including contacts. all in all an alright phone but very frustrating at times.

HD2 runs great with Android!

The Bad: Got the phone part of T-mobiles Buy one Smartphone get another one free promotion last year. The first phone i bought, it has a problem with sending text messages. Every time i tried to send one, it would freeze up and i would have to yank out the battery and restart. I returned it for another phone and same problem! But i could not switch my phone so i lived with it and the problem went away for the most part. It comes with Windows Mobile, which did not have any voice recognition software like other smartphones and it also did not have the GPS navigation like Android phones. Also, it was sluggish and battery really sucked. So I had a friend root my phone and install android on it; WOW! It is so much better now! Now i can appreciate the huge screen. And with android, it runs so much faster and my battery is actually better. Don't worry about voiding your warranty- you can undo the Android installation. I wish the phone had Android to begin with.

HD2 looks good on the outside

4

Physically, this phone is beautiful. However, Windows Mobile is awful. Lets start with the hardware. It boasts a beautiful 4.3 inch gorilla glass screen which makes it harder to scratch up. It has a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor and 5MP camera with flash. It also came with a 16Gb microSd card. Windows Mobile, on the other hand is downright awful. There are hardly any apps on the outdated OS that it came with. However, you can now install Android and completely wipe out WIndows OS. You can actually install Windows 7 on the HD2 now too. If it wasn't for the OS, I would probably give this phone a 5 start. The screen is big and beautiful and the phone is very snappy. If you can get this phone for a good place and install Android or Windows 7, you would probably like this phone more. Physically, there is not too many negatives about this phone, well except for it doesn't have HD video recording. But keep in mind this phone is a year old already.

HTC HD2 is an ok phone

I am not a huge fan of windows mobile, their apps collections is not very large nor that great.  The movie quality on this phone is out of this world.  If the phone gets too cold it will freeze up on you.  It has a huge screen that I love.

T-Mobile HTC HD2 Smartphone

The HTC HD2 is a great phone it comes with the Transformer 1 and 2 movie. You can check emails watch you  tube stream music and video. My computer broke down a few months back and as a college student with many essays to constuct I was able to them directly from the phone and then email them to myself for submission. It also comes with a memory card. You can obtain internet access from any where with the WiFi capability to surf the net. I love the phone its awsome.  would recommend it to any buisness professional or college student. The GPS is very accurate as well.  The only down fall I would say is that from time to time the phone will freeze and the user will have to take out the battery to re-start the phone inorder to use the phone. Overall the phone was worth the money that I spent and I am completely satisfied .
