Overall rating for me would be a seven. In comparison to other cards I have it is pretty decent. The biggest drawback is that you have to use it a lot in order to take advantage of the rewards. It takes a ton of rewards credits to get anything of value. Really not worth it. I have dealt with customer service before, they were very professional and courteous but very hard to understand since they speak English but with heavy accents.

The American Dream Card by HSBC is a good card for someone who needs it to start their credit profile and doesn't use the card for anything but gas and pays it off each month. The card was offered to me at 9% interest and we (my wife and I) accepted it as such only to find the first billing period that we used the card changed our interest to 21.9% We had used the card to do some vehicle repairs at the lower interest rate so we wouldn't be out the cash and put ourselves in a bind only to find out our interest rate was raised. When I approached HSBC with this they denied that my interest rate was ever 9%. I sent them the initial email promoting their product and they said well, you weren't approved at 9% but at 21.9% which is in direct conflict with what their rep told me when we got the card.   Because of this new interest rate the card was pushed over them limit and accessed a $39 over the limit fee and to top it off, I had them set up on autodebit for the $5 over the minimum payment and the minimum payment was also changed because of the hike and the over-the-limit-fee so they also assessed me for a $39 late payment fee because the minimum payment was not paid in full.   In essence, this card-*if you make a mistake or they make a mistake*- will go up $78 per month and you will never get it paid off and these are all fees. Hence (Fee Based Card) Be careful in choosing a credit card guys. The best one I have found out there is Capital One and I've never a problem one out of them.
