This does all jobs well

5

I have always liked Hewlett Packer printers, but this all-in-one is outstanding. Very easy to use and the instruction manual and help function provide you with the answers to any questions that you may have. I expecially like how easy it is to change the ink cartridges without having to contort your arms to reach them and release and reposition them. This printer handles the scan and fax functions very well and it is very easy to program for the fax function. Copying is a breeze in both color and black and white on this machine. My most favorite quality of this machine is the photograph printer. The prints look exactly like what you would receive from having them developed in a store and the price is considerably less, if you produce as many photographs as I do. Granted this does tend to use up the ink cartridges pretty fast, but you can find these at a reasonable price if you shop around and recently I have found that they are making the ink cartridges as XL cartridges. They do cost a little more, but the cartridges last quite a bit longer. All-in-all I highly recommend this product as a perfect addition to any home office. Durability Broke down without too much use

HP Photosmart C7280 may not be so smart.

3

As far as HP goes ... they have come a long way since the 90's. I don't think you can get any better hardware than HP. This printer though, to me, is just average. It has individual ink cartridges for each color and a separate one for black - all with the idea of being more economical. It is very inconvenient though to have to replace individual cartridges because it will stop printing when it runs out of one. To do the smart thing, one should have at least two sets of cartridges on hand at all times. Enough said about the ink. The other (non) feature of this printer is that you cannot scan to Word. Wow, that's inconvenient. You must get an OCR program and pray it works. I never could get it to work. I had to resort to plugging in my old HP scanner (3570C) and scan just so I could save to Word. This printer/scanner/fax makes you save everything as a photo ... either .jpg or .tif, which really stinks. Have you ever gotten a document from someone and it is a picture of a document? Takes up way to much space in your email and doesn't print well. Lastly - it is cumbersome. Just way too big! I don't like the idea of 3 in 1 printers actually. I would rather have a scanner and a printer. No bother for a fax anymore, just go online and use an electronic fax. It is cheaper and eliminates the need for a fax machine. Who really faxes that much anymore anyway? I guess if you get this machine really cheap or given to you, then you'll be okay with it - otherwise, do more homework and find something better.

I Love My HP Photosmart C7280 !!!!!!

4

I bought this printer about a year ago and have been quite impressed with it's performance ! The Photo printing is exceptional ! The colors are true to the original colors in the picture that were taken ! This printer takes a lot of ink to print color photos whether on regular paper or photo paper. I did notice that the complete ink packages have been coming down in price which is good ! when using the fax machine feature on this printer I did notice you have to stand by and feed the pages so it does not jam the feed .It makes great copies and I am overall very satisfied with this printer.I also love the wireless printing feature so that I can print from my Desktop computer or My Laptop !

Decent all-in-one for everyday print jobs

3

I've had the HP Photosmart C7280 all-in-one for two or three years now, and it fulfills most of my everyday printing needs. It prints out fast, whether it's prining in black and white or color. It does a pretty good job on photo prints, and I love that it has a separate tray specifically for 5x7 photo paper. The scan function works well, but it's a pain to get the program to run. I have the printer hooked up to a wireless network, and sometimes it tells me the printer isn't on or isn't working when it is, and can't give me any answers when I troubleshoot. The biggest problem I've had is trying to get it to print on different sized paper - the printer doesn't recognize it, or on some sizes just can't print at all. It was very annoying and frustrating, but for everyday, simple print jobs, it works just fine. I like the copy feature and have never had any problems with that - it makes crystal clear copies. Like all machines, it has its faults, but overall its a good buy.

Hp Photosmart all-in-one gives great quality; expensive per unit

4

I have never been so impressed with the quality of an all-in-one.  Whether I'm printing photos, scanning documents or just making copies, it's terrific.  The options for scanning are truly impressive.  It's mildly annoying that all the options don't show up on the screen; if you don't realize that you have to scroll to the TOP, you'll miss some.  The variety of memory cards you can use is good, but not complete.  The big problem, though, is ink cost.  I have NEVER seen a printer that sucks ink the way this one does.  The cartridges are small and expensive.  And, if one is empty, you have to override it, even if you're not using the absent color.  I will acknowledge that it does a good job of "figuring something out" if you ask it to print something with a color it doesn't have.  It will take a while, but it's still pretty impressive.  One warning:  the ink is very water-soluble; don't let your product get caught in the lightest rain; you'll have a mess.

This all-in-one printer frequently malfunctions!

3

This is not the first HP printer that I have  owned. Each time I buy one, I say "never again", but then I buy one anyway. The price is right, and has all the features I'm looking for. However, while in the middle of working, when I try to print a page, I'll get a "printer off line" message. Every time that happens, I have to uninstall, then reinstall the program. Besides being time consuming, it's extremely annoying. The next problem I have is with trying to scan to a file or folder. The scan menu on the all-in-one did show all of the options the first few times I used it. Since that time, my only options are to "Scan and Reprint" or "Scan to a Memory Stick". Neither of those options are useful to me. There is a way to work around it, by going through paint. While that does work, it is time consuming. I also have another HP printer-scanner, that won't scan to my PC. I have worked with HP Tech Support several times. They try to be helpful, they do speak English, but they are unable to resolve the problems. My next all-in-one definitely will not be a HP!

Check out if the C7280 HP Printer is supported by Vista before y

2

Once again, HP's 800 toll free tech support outside the U.S. lacks basic information to help a user solve a problem.  I had no idea that Microsoft's Vista Operating System does not support scanning from HP's C7280 Photosmart All-In-One Printer; neither did their techs.  I spent 2 hours on the first call only to be told that the tech needed to research further and call me back in 4 hours, which he never did.  The second call lasted 1 hour and 40 minutes when the tech finally gave up and was going to transfer me to a higher support person. After waiting for the transfer, I was told that Vist does not support the HP C7280 print scan feature from the printer.  That information could have been gven to me in 5 minutes; not almost 4 hours. The morale of this weaste of time is that their overseas techs don't have a clue as to what works in Vista and what does not. The other issue is why didn't HP disclaim this at point-of-purchase.  There is nothing to tell the buyer of this restriction and there is nothing in the manual provided that states this restriction.  You have to be told by HP to go to a specific online document to get this information.  At least fax, print and copy works.  Thanks HP for 3 out of 4.

The worst HP I have ever owned!

1

I had always bought Hp products until this one. It has totally changed my outlook on HP. The photos don' t even look like a photo. The printer jams continually. Everytime anything paper is put into the feeder it brings a window up on the computer. I don't need the computer to fax or copy! It takes forever for it to go through it's "printer preparation" every time I try to print anything. I have to shrink anything to tiny to get it to show right on the print preview but when it prints it's microscopic! It can't automotically select paper tray you have to tell it which tray otherwise it will always try to use the photo tray no matter what you are printing. It scans well, faxes easily & copies ok but for a printer it totally sucks. It goes through more ink than any HP I have ever owend. I have had a 693C and Photosmart 1000. The photosmart was bought in 01 new to replace the 693C that I'd had for years and this one was going to replace the photosmart but I'm glad I still have it because it works far better than this one!

Perfect home office printer/scanner!

5

Very happy with the HPC7280! The best feature is wireless - I can have in my office but can move around if needed. Prints beautiful pictures! Love having a home office scanner for not a lot of money! And indivudual ink cartridges are much better than the B&W or color.

The HP C-7280 printer may not be the best choice

3

This printer seems to have a mind of it own. It's less than 2 years old. I've had it go through what I call "fits". All the buttons would flash on and off, and you can not shut it off, unless you unplug the printer from the power supply. Twice now I have had this printer come up with a message on the screen that "one of the ink cartridges is missing or damaged". The first time I was able to get it working again even after tech support told me there was nothing else to do BUT replace it. This time I have to replace it. It also seems to be very noisy. And it would take awhile before it started to print. Could not get it to print all sized envelopes. On the good side, it printed very nice photos and text. Has 6 ink cartridges for photos. Only used the fax a few times, so the next printer will not have a fax. Think twice before buying this unit. Tech support was very helpful, but can not resolve the problem, except to have me purchase a new printer. Looked at getting this repaired, but no one will repair it. Not repairable.
