Purchased this computer when I unexpectedly lost my Mac computer and realized it'd be too pricey to replace. This computer seemed to work well until six months in to having it when I began finding a lot of connection issues and driver crashes. Not to mention the battery life is short lived. The computer works alright but seems to be poorly made and definitely doesn't pan in comparrison to the quality of the Mac. I think it would have been better to have saved up for a better quality product.

**this is  Good For:** Students, Home, & Business This is a great laptop when it comes for personal use. this is good both from inside and out means that it has good looks and both good configuration. This is laptop which comes with genuine windows which can be easily be updated from the Microsoft website. The cost will thin your wallet a little, but for a pretty potent portable after all its a HP laptop. The battery backup is great still after 2 years. One of my friend is using it for last 1 year. I purchased my son a Hewlett packard HP HPG71-34OUS  Notebook PC laptop computer for his graduation.He has been enjoying it every since he got it. He's able to do his assignments online and do some of the other necessary things such as shopping online that he has been wanting to do.He has been loving it! Now that he has enrolled in another course for over the summer he is looking forward to using his new notebook with all ir's many features to complete his assignments online and keep up with his homework assignments as he goes. I couldn't on what to get him for graduation and a dear friend of the family recommended that we purchased one for him and even offered to go half and half with us on the price and i am so happy that it worked out where we could purchase him one before he starts his courses this summer because now he has just what he needs to get started on his assignments and homework!Now he can't wait to get started working!

I purchased my HP G71 for a few hundred bucks on black friday 2009. It was an awesome deal and I wanted a laptop with a huge screen because I love watching movies online. The screen is a little over 17" and this laptop is a bit heavy so it's great for entertainment purposes but not very portable. I use it for surfing the web, media, downloads and schoolwork and it does every job just fine. I noticed that after about 6 months the battery wouldn't last as long as before and the computer would get really hot. The charger port stopped working, I would have to wiggle the charger to get it to charge, but eventually it wouldn't work at all. I still had a few weeks before my warantee expired, so I sent the laptop in to be fixed and it was returned to me as good as new. It's been back for about 4 months now and I noticed that it is starting to get really hot again, so I don't expect this batter to last very long either.

I bought hp g-71 laptop about a year ago. It was great to work on it untill the battery stopped working just after the one year guarantee period. the monitor size is big enough to enjoy any movie or video. Windows 7 was also easy to work with. Plus the HP advisor is a helpful tool too.  lot of usb ports and multimedia card slot for pictures and videos.  I bought it from staples at a sale.                                                            but just after one year the battery stopped working. I tried to remove and reattach battery but it did not work. Now its running on ac power supply. I have to buy a battery since the one year warranty period ended. I did some research in the internet and found out that battery is always a problem with HP G71 model. There is anotherr problem with its built in webcam , its focusing power is not good so some times picture is too dark or too blured. Overall I like this laptop except the battery in it.

I got this computer for my birthday this year. I didn't go to pick it out, my brothers bought it for me because I was desperately in need of my own, reliable computer. It's a little big for what I wanted and it's hard to find a travel bag (which I NEED) for this size, but it's surprisingly lightweight for its size. I love the full keyboard and the OS it comes with (Windows 7 home premium). So far I haven't had any technical difficulties with it yet, but we'll see how it does over time (I'm not a fan of HP, generally)  Overall a pretty good computer for a pretty good price and it fits my needs pretty well.

I have had my hp g71-34ous notebook for almost a year now and I still love it. The resolution is crystal clear and the screen very easy to read. I have not had any problems with the computer itself, although I did have to replace the charger. Hp sent the replacement within a couple of days and all was good again. I use the computer for internet and email and it si pretty fast and very responsive. My daughter like to watch movies and play games and is also very happy with the performance of our Hp computer. This computer has the 17 inch screen and while it is a little heavey to carry around, it was lighter than the other 17 inch computers I looked at. I would definitely recommend this computer.

This laptop is a great computer. It runs pretty smoothly and has few quirks. I have only had it for about half a year, but it has seemed to do well. The one thing that I noticed was that the computer does not run great when the internet is slower. We have a poor connection and it seems to make netflix and anything with a higher download content run slower. The internet seems to seize up every once in a while too where I have to restart it. This computer is a great laptop to take with me to college classes, but it is a little on the heavy side. It also did not fit in my laptop case I have already so I had to buy another one to keep it protected.

By far HP has come along way since their start, the way they manufacture laptops has made a name for itself in great workmanship, quality of the item and ease of use I personally own one and never had an issue. If your looking for flash and low quality laptops go somewhere else because HP deals ONLY with the best.

  This notebook features a 17.3" screen and a sleek black exterior. If you are looking for a laptop to use for e-mail and other basic functions, then this is a great laptop for you. However, with only a basic Intel Celeron processor and a mere 2 GB of RAM installed (4GB  max) this laptop isn't capable of carrying out complex functions or multitasking efficiently.
