I paid dearly for my computer because of its many features: media center, various drives and inputs, DVD/CD writer with lightscribe, not to mention the speed and space. However, now that it is out of warranty, the writer does not work. My computer technician told me that this has happened to many people he knows with HP computers. It has swayed me, and I will be getting Dell next time. You would expect a computer that you pay so much for would work for a while. I did not use that driver very much at all; it should have lasted MUCH longer. I also have a few other problems here and there with other hardware devices. I do keep my computer protected, but you can't protect it from itself.

Also, I would not ever recommend buying your computer from a store as I did mine from BestBuy. I recommend ordering them customized offline. I found that my computer, although it was displayed new at BestBuy, was actually one of HPs older models that they did not even sell on their website anymore, and I was paying about the same price for older technology. I have see similar occurences at Sams Club and other stores.

And, at my particular Best Buy store, I went ahead and purchased this computer I wanted in a bundle with its monitor. However, they said they did not have the matching monitor in stock and persuaded me to take another brand with it (Westinghouse) because it was "the same." I even bought and extended warranty on it all (which is of course expired now). Now my Westinghouse powers itself off so much and dies (it is no longer usable) that I wish I would have waited for the monitor that I paid for. They pursuaded me to buy a bad monitor. Before my warranty ran out, I had sent that monitor to the geek squad twice and they never did get it right. One time, they first tried to tell me that I had never purchased an extended warranty. My Best Buy was VERY hard to deal with and I will not purchase from them again. I will be ordering straight from Dell. With my HP computer from Best Buy, I also purchased a 3N1 photo printer which I must say is also not the greatest by far.
