great buy

5

This is the best printer I've ever owned. It's small, compact, and fits almost anywhere. It's lightweight, and isn't a burden to move from place to place. The drivers are easy to install, and it's simple to hook up to any computer. It functions simply as a printer, and doesn't have excessive functions or buttons that you will never learn about. It holds a decent amount of paper, and prints incredibly quickly: great for deadlines. Even when the warning for low ink comes up, I can still use the printer for a pretty long time. There is no color, but that's not needed in my case because everything I print is either a report or an essay. The ink is expensive, but I find that I only need to replace once a year at most, and that's when I do a lot of printing over the course of that year. It's simple to use, and great if you don't like the fancy printers that are out now with tons of capabilities.

Excellent and durable printer

5

We purchased this HP 1020 laserjet printer several years ago and have owned HP products before as well.  This is a worry-free printer and works like a charm.  We have only replaced the ink cartridge 1-2 times and nothing else has ever needed done with it.  It has such high quality and is very easy to set up and use.  I would highly recommend this printer for anyone that does not need a color printer.  We just use our printer for printing personal receipts, coupons, etc. and do not need color; therefore, it is much cheaper since you do not need a color cartridge.  HP is such a good brand and is always highly rated.  You can also print envelopes and do two-sided prints as well.  We are not very knowledgeable on how to fix technology products when there are problems so this item suits us well.  It works like it should and you just need to keep the paper supplied and the ink cartridge filled and it will serve you well for quite some time.  You will not be dissappointed with this at all. Performance This printer is fast and works well. We recently purchased an all-in-one printer and it is much noisier and much slower. Most of our printing is just for copies so black and white is fine. The only problem we had is that it was not compatible with a newer computer so we had to upgrade to be able to print. Other than that, it just keeps working and working with no problems at all.

Little Workhorse computer, inexpensive and easy to operate.

5

We've owned this little printer for about five years and affectionately call him Hank Preston.  He's cheap to operate and prints in excellent quality on the cheapest possible copy paper.  Paper jams are easy to clear and the cartridges are super inexpensive if you buy recycled on the internet.  If you have a lot of printing to do as we do with our small business, a laser printer is much cheaper to own although the initial costs might be more.  It is also more convenient not to have to worry about the ink cartridges running out all the time. This printer is also able to print envelopes, labels, and probably many other things we haven't even tried.  Of course, the one big disadvantage is that it only prints in black, white and shades of grey.  But for those school projects, have the kids get out their crayons and color a little bit.  Or may I suggest, buying two printers, most people have two computers in the home anyway.

HP 1020: A great buy.

5

I bought this printer over five years ago, and it's been a very faithful dependable printer.  So far, I have not had any issues with it and am very glad I bought it.  Also, the HP website has very easy online drivers that you can install. The HP1020 has a very standard ink cartridge size, and so finding replacement ink is very easy.  We usually order ours online as it is much cheaper this way. I also have my printer connected to a wireless system and so I do not need to be connected to it from my laptop to print.  You can adjust the size of paper that you want to print and you can also set the setting to EconoMode which saves toner.   This printer is certainly not top-of-the-line, but if you are looking for a basic black and white printer, this will do a great job.  I use this printer mainly for printing coupons, and all of the coupons have printed great and have always scanned at the grocery stores.

very fast and reliable for personal print jobs

5

I previously had an ink jet printer which did a great job but the number of pages per minute was very low. It took way to long to print anything more than 10 pages. So I upgraded to this laser printer and was very impressed with the speed of the print jobs. The paper tray is easy to load and the print outs flow pretty well. I have not had any jamming problems so far and the quality of the print is pretty good though not excellent however, I am satisfied with the quality per the price of the printer. The cost of the toner was a consideration in selecting this particular model of printer. I did not want to pay more than I did for the printer in ink! It is compact enough and does not require much more than the regular depth of a shelf to sit on. It powers up very fast as well which is a nice benefit. Performance It is fast and the quality is very good for the price of the printer. Copy Quality I am satisified with the copy quality Ink/Paper Use It is better than I had expected but wish the ink quality could remain dark through out the life of the toner. Ease of Use Extremely easy to use and would recomend this to a novice user. Durability I have not had any problems with the durablity of this product.

Had to replace an old HP Deskjet and I am very Pleased with this up to date one. Performance Very Quick print and I got a lot of pages per minute. Copy Quality very clear quality. Ink/Paper Use As per the box I get about 5000 copies per toner cartridge. Ease of Use Fast easy set up Durability very durable, daughter dropped it and it is still working as great as it always has. Design A little bulky, but it is a printer.

Reliable

I received this  **HP LaserJet 1020 Printer**  as a Birthday gift.  It is a Life saver.  I occasionally purchase the Ink Replacement Cartridges and the perfection of word printing is wonderful; no fuzz, great clarity.  I enjoy using this printer when it comes time to replace it, I may just purchase another to replace the original!  The HP company updates the drivers in the computer system when upgrading HP Programs, and they send out  listings for  ordering products and discounts that allow me to order supplies directly from the manufacturer.  Convenient.

LOVE our HP LaserJet

5

We purchased this printer three and a half years ago when my husband was in University. He was doing LOTS of printing, and we needed something that was reliable, fast, and cheap. The printer itself was a reasonable price to purchase, and the toner isn't that bad either. We print A LOT, and we only replace the toner two times a year or so - way cheaper than our old injets. The printer never jams, and always prints very high quality prints. I really like that the printer is small - it only takes up a small portion of the desk. We have never had a problem getting the printer to connect to our computers, or home network. It also prints FAST! Although this printer really does most everything we need it to do, the only thing I miss is being able to print colour!

ok printer for the price

I gave the printer an average 3-star rating because there is nothing really special about this printer. It worked well until it crapped out on me the other day (~3 yrs) of light home usage. It has a nice compact design. The color kinda sucks. I prefer black computer accessories. But I guess the grey color masks dust build up. The print quality is good. I only printed text documents so I didnt really push the envelope.  Another drawback of this is that it doesnt do automatic duplex (double-sided) printing. BUMMER! You have to manually flip the printed sheets and re-feed it into the printer. That is pretty lame. And, that process often caused jams. Very frustrating!  Recommendations: Spend a bit more to get something that can do auto-duplex. It will save on paper/ink in the long run. Not to mention lower your overall stress level. Another consideration is getting a wireless-ready unit. That way you can have your printer anywhere in the house.

hp LaserJet 1020 printer is awesome

5

I received the hp LaserJet 1020 printer as a gift for Christmas last year. I was use to ink jet printers in the past. Well, since I have started using my new LaserJet printer, I would never go back to the old standard of ink jet. The printer provides a sharp and crisp copy. The LaserJet 1020 can spit out my printed document in like three seconds. There are many options that you can change in the properties. Either way you look at it, the copy is prestine! I use my LaserJet 1020 all the time. I do a lot of work at home, and having this printer is a blessing. Sometimes I have to print ten page reports. With the LaserJet, it is a breeze. My kids use the printer for their school work. Both of them have commented on how fast that the LaserJet is. Changing the toner is also very easy. The LaserJet 1020 is fantastic in my opinion. I would recommend this printer to anyone that just needs a printer due to the fact that it only has capabilities of printing and not copying or scanning. I have always used hp products and have never been disappointed. Thank you.
