This printer is excellent. We've had it in our house for the last couple of years, and it's been so much better than the previous two we had, both of which were all in one printers that stopped working within months. This printer however takes much less space, prints cleanly and quickly, rarely jams, and suits our needs perfectly.

The HP Deskjet D1420 is a great printer for those who don't need a high quality printer.  It works great for the price.  This printer has the black cartridge and the color cartridge, both of which last a decent amount of time.  I print coupons from online sources all the time, and my husband prints his papers for school, and we have both been pleased.  This is not the printer for you if you want something that prints quality photos.  We do have an occasional paper jam, but the printer is easy to fix.  The printer automatically brings the cartidges to the center when the lid is opened, and the cartridges are very easy to access.  The power light on the front blinks if there is a problem with the printer, so it is easy to tell if your computer or printer is causing the problem.  I have also used this printer to print labels, and it worked very well.  Overall I have been pleased with the quality compared to what I paid for this printer.

This is a great printer. Very reliable and fast. Probably good only for home use, but does the job right and precise. The onlly issue I have, as in most printers, is that the black ink runs out very fast and is expensive to replace routinely. I have had this printer for 5 years and it has worked just great for me.  It would be nice if an ink company would come out with something that would last longer.  I frequently write papers and letters for acquaintences, so I have to always have an extra ink cartridge on hand in case I run out.  I have looked into other printers, but since this one is so reliable, I will be keeping it.  So If you're just looking for a simple, reliable printer, this is the one to do the job.  I have worked in and office for 25 years and have not encountered a nice easy printer like this one.  Not only easy and fast, but easy to troubleshoot such as paper jams.  The HP support disc that comes with it is very helpful.

the Hp deskjet printer is the simplest printer to install on your computer.  The ink cartridges are not expensive and they last a long while.  It alse has the ink saver to not use too much ink but enough to print out documents.  I will always use an HP printer they are great.  It has the ability to print photos with a photo ink cartridge.  It has the alignment of cartridges when a new one is put in and has an alert to tell you when the cartridge is getting low on ink.  It has several other features I have been with other printers and this one is the best of the ones I have owned.  I also have a HP PSC it is the greatest I have become a loyal user of the Hewlett Packard brands and I also have a new computer and It is an HP so I beleive I am liking the HP brand products.  Not all people like the same brands and some have more experience with what they are used to.  I am hoping that this review will give others the chance to experience the Hewlett Packard brands with the same way that I have been happy with them.

Hewlett Packard Deskjet D1420 Printer works for me. I was at first worried about buying this printer because the price was cheaper than most of the others in the store. I was going back and forth between the price and the brand. I finally opted to go with the known brand and it's reputation. The compact size is a plus, remembering the bluky ones I've had before! Also the dual color, coming from a "Woman's Perspective" was very compatable with the other electronics I had. It didn't stick out like a sore thumb! The ink was no more expensive than most and in some cases it was VERY reasonable up against some of the others. I have had the printer for a few years and can count on one hand how many times I have had a paper jam with my HP. I get really iritated when I have paper jams! The set up for the paper couldn't get any easier! Front loading printers are always the way to go! When changing the ink, it's just as simple as loading the paper. Simple and easy to get to. Printed papers are crisp and clean...never a smear! Very pleased with my decision!

The HP Deskjet D1420 Printer is a great little work horse. It is fast and efficient. This Deskjet is one of the most reliable little printers I've owned. The HP Deskjet D1420 Printer takes up very little space on your desk or work surface. It is lightweight, very portable, and prints out black and white pages quickly. Color printing is also quick and you can vary the quality of print output quite easily. The convenience of being able to choose the "quality" of print is a real plus and the variety of printing output options is more than sufficient. Printing in just black and white, on the draft format allows you to use up very little of your ink, especially when printing out lengthy spreadsheets. The ink cartridges (it takes two) are easy to install.  This is a relatively quiet printer, rarely jams, and it feeds the paper into the printer accurately and straight. Printing on either card stock or inexpensive  "print and copy paper" doesn't seem to impact this great little printer one bit. You can pay a lot more for a different printer, but this little jewel does the trick, and does it well.

The HP D1420 Deskjet is a super compact design that prints faithfully; however, the inkmonitor and head cleaning tools will NOT work. I've contacted HP on this a number oftimes and as yet have no solution. Other than that it's a great little printer for the money!

I bought this printer solely for printing on non paper surfaces.  I work as a chidlren's minister and we have access to color copiers and other printers.  I wanted something I could use to print stickers, transparencies, iron on transfers. For what i use it for, it works great.  I have had no problems whatsoever.  My only con is that the ink is so expensive.  (But that goes with any inkjet printer.)
