I've been a fan of dark beers for many years and sampled quite a few. I find myself coming back to Guinness again and again.

I like the deep color and slightly molasses taste to the brew. I also find it to be a smooth beer... and it doesn't hurt that it's from the old country! I enjoy the fact that it has a creamy, substantive head to it.

On the practical side, many restaurants and bars stock Guinness, so I know that I will be getting a quality dark beer as opposed to one of those wimpy wannabe darks.

Also, great for getting a conversation started. I find that when I step up to the bar to order a Guinness, people look to see who is ordering. Often, men seem to be just a little impressed by a woman who knows a good dark beer. And when you take it to parties, it's only the select few who will choose Guinness over some of those watery, no flavor brews. So, more for you and your friends with good taste!
