The Great Head Makes this Guinness Easy to Swallow

Pros

great head, easy to swallow, smooth, no aftertaste

When this draft (or draught) was put in front of me at a restaurant I could smell the slight sweetness of it. There wasn’t an alcohol odor which gives me the chills – in a bad way! The aroma was mild- another plus for me.

In front of me was a ¼ inch tan head. It lasted right up until the glass was empty. The head left a swirl of lace. This creamy beer had somewhat of a thick, milky texture with little carbonation.

Guinness is made with barley, water, hops and yeast. It was thick, rich, and heavy. I thought it easy to swallow; smooth and it left no aftertaste. In what might seem to be a contradiction it is a mild beer which belies its color and texture.

I’d call it a nutty coffee flavored beer with an ABV (alcohol by volume) of 4.2%, which is slightly below average.

Three of us drank it at this particular time. I had mine with a salad topped with chicken; my husband a salad topped with shrimp and Rob had ribs. Drink it alone or with snacks.

Guinness is brewed in Dublin. There are 148 calories in a 12- ounce glass. Guinness is best served at close to 43 degrees F.

I don't think Guinness has an aftertaste.

This is a great beer at anytime for me. It's so rich and thick. I think many people are turned off by the shading of this beer, but it is very misleading. I first had this beer at, believe it or not, a country club (blah). I was very impressed with it and have been a fan ever since. The only way to drink this beer is from the tap, no bottled Guiness for me!

Perhaps it should have said little aftertaste as compared to others. jo

Guinness without aftertaste!? That would be a first for me.
