Is there such a thing as a bad pint of Guinness? I am a beer snob I suppose, but to call Guinness just a beer is such a put down. I am such a geek I am one of the first members of the 1759 Society and have my certificate hanging on my wall as if it was a diploma. I loves me some Guinness. Not only is it great to drink its amazing to cook with, especially when making stew! Don't let the fact it is a stout scare you away it not bitter only smooth and yummy. OK now I want one, anyone up to joining me at the pub?

Hey did you see the Mythbusters where they were checking to see something about putting beer under the sand at the beach and then putting lighter fluid ontop of the sand and lighting it on fire! It supposedly cools the beer down quickly. Well that was debunked, but the other ways they tried to cool beer down the fastest was pretty impressive. It turns out CO2 in a fire extinguisher works best. haha. Next and most logically is beer in a cooler with ice and salt (and water I think). Interesting.

Mmmmmmmm... Guinness is my favorite. I love this drink. It is proabably the first stout beer I tried. The best! Tell me the time and place and I'm there with ya sister.

I don't drink it cold at all. I have heard people say it has a strong aftertaste and to me there is no after taste. I have been drinking it for close to 20 years( yes I drank underage) and sorry I just don't taste any after taste. Although oddly enough when I cook with it I do have a bit of an after taste then. I suppose every ones pallet is different :)

In reference to Guinness not having an aftertaste- taste is, indeed a subjective thing. Different people have different thresholds for various tastes and aromas -some are higher than other's. In the case of Guinness, however, given the fact that it is brewed with a very high dark roasted malt content, it is difficult to imagine it not having an aftertaste. Perhaps you are serving it too cold and may be stunting your palate's ability to perceive the full aftertaste. Traditionally Guinness is served at 55 degrees fahrenheit. Cheers!
