If Negra Modelo isn't my #1 beer it is close to it.

It's a full bodied, Vienna style lager beer imported from Mexico with an ABV of 5.3% (The average is 5.)

The aroma is mild, sweet and malty.

Poured into a glass I could smell hops, caramel, and roast.

Negra Modelo pours to a golden brown with a hint of reddish copper. The head started out thick but dissipated pretty quickly leaving some lace.

The taste is mild, light and a little sweet though not overly sweet or I wouldn't like it. There are hints of malt, caramen and maybe some floral notes. It goes down very smoothly.

Negra Modelo has some carbonation. The finish is very nice and not overly dry with no bitterness in the aftertaste.

As a Mexican beer this goes great with any kind of Mexican food obviously. I drink it alone or with any kind of food.  Negra Modelo tastes best really cold.

I'm not quite as enthusiastic about this beer as you, but I agree it is one of the better Mexican beer products.

If Negra Modelo is full bodied, I'd like to hear your interpretation of a barleywine. Your final sentence says a lot about the quality of this beer.
