Do not upgrade AVG 7.5 to 8.0. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

AVG 7.5 worked well while I had it. When "upgraded" to version 8.0 (as encouraged by the AVG people) the program completely broke down. AVG support did not respond to requests for help and I was left with no antivirus program. Avoid Grisoft and its AVG… read full review »

I'm just like you. No special training, no computer classes, just the average Joe looking to make sure that their computer works without spending tons of money or time on the process. — AVG free enables me to do all that, without all the confusing extras that cause your computer to suddenly do something unexpected. Before I used AVG I was constantly having to turn off my security program to install software. AVG in no way interferes with the normal operation of your computer. I like anyhting that is free, especially software. AVG finds bugs at once and keeps my sytem clean and free. I'm just like you. AVG Anti-Virus 7.5 discovered viruses that my $2100+ Trend Micro Anti-Virus didn't discover. I confirmed the viruses with other packages, but our expensive Trend Micro SMB AV didn't find. — You can even use the AVG AV Free Edition but it is less configurable so you do get the extras by paying for the commerical versions. — Try it against the other AV Companies before you pay to much for "assumed" protection. — Download the free edition and test it: grissoft.com —… read full review »

I loaded this program for free when I discovered a virus had made its way onto my computer despite my having EZ Firewall protection. It downloaded pretty quickly and easily and took care of the virus issue pretty quickly.
