I refuse to use Greyhound!

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

My daughter took a Greyhound Bus last night. She left from Chicago at 7pm and was due to arrive in Champaign Illinois at 8:30, think it was. Well that didnt happen. The bus pulled over because the de-foggers werent working. The rain outside didnt help any. The Bus Driver called in and requested another bus. That bus didnt come for another 2 hours. My daughter and the other passengers were stranded until then. They reached Champaign at 2am in the morning. And to make matters worse, my daughters "duffle bag" was the only bag missing on the bus. They said it was left behind on the broken down bus. How the heck do ya leave ONE bag behind? It's 2pm here and my daughter's still waiting on a call about her bag. This is insane! I personally would never take this bus! And neither will my daughter!

Grey hound, well after my last trip I would not recomend this way of travel! You book your ticket in advance to make sure there is room on the bus, they still over book you! And don't ask "why did I book an advance ticket?' I had an employee tell me "because you wanted a cheaper ticket." NOT!!!! It took me 3 1/2 days to get to La. which I never got to. I was summons to court in texas, was going to my son's in La. then we were all driving to Texas. Grey hound re-routed my ticket so mant times it wasn't funny. They had to route me to Texas because I missed getting to La. in time. And for all the bull I went through what did I get? A  40.00 off  coupon for my next trip Right like I'm going to use it.

Greyhound is in its own little world

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

My 16 year old son needed to get from Richmond VA to Roanoke VA.  He's traveled on Greyhound in the past with no problems.  Greyhound lets minors (his age) travel during daylight hours on routes that don't require transfers.  This trip takes 4 hours with 2 10 minute stops.  Fare is $42.00 one way.  With gas hitting $4 a gallon, it made alot of sense.  When I went on Greyhound.com to make a reservation, no problem, but when it came time to confirm my purchase they had added an additional $18 "gift fee" because the credit card was not in the travelers name.  Couldn't believe it, $18.00!!!   Called customer service and was told any reservation made online or over the phone not paid for by the traveler was charged an additional gift fee.  When I asked how many minors they knew of that had their own credit cards and received the same answer.  Needless to say, I hung up and drove.   Thank goodness I don't have quintuplets!

If you can't drive yourself, go Greyhound.

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I have traveled by Greyhound many times, although I was transfered to alternate bus lines, many times, because of my destination. So far there have been no problems with these transfers. If you know in advance when and where you will be going, you can buy a seven day advance ticket, and, in my research and personal experience, save over half the cost of a regular priced ticket.

I have never had a bad experience. Once, years ago, the Greyhound had a flat tire. Evidently they just can't be fixed on the side of the road. We did have to wait, in the middle of nowhere, for a replacement, but they sent a really nice bus to take us on to our next transfer.

Funny and a little creepy once. A woman was being deported by bus, I don't know the thinking on that one, but, in my opinion, she needed to be hospitalized, she had serious mental disability issues. The bus driver did a great job of handling the situation.

I haven't traveled by Greyhound in the past few years, but would if I needed to.

Not Happy

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

I took the Greyhound home yesterday from New York City thinking I would be environmentally friendly and save myself some money. BIG MISTAKE!!!! My boyfriend and I arrived at the Time Square Terminal an hour before our bus was schedualed to leave thinking we had plenty of time as we already had our tickets in hand. We got to the loading area and were told to go into the wrong line of people, so we went into a line that was about 350 deep at the time. The workers there were not helpful, we often saw them standing in groups of 5 or 6 talking for 20 minutes. We saw a girl with headphones on listening to music and heard several people ask her questions only to get the answer I dont know. All we h...

Does not think Vancouver, Washington is worth the stop.

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

Does not think Vancouver, Washington is worth the stop. They closed the stop here in Vancouver, Washington on January 1, 2009. While I know Greyhound is not for everyone, it is reasonably affordable and they used to go everywhere.

While the bus lines are not the most romantic way to travel I have enjoyed riding on them. But Greyhound has terrible customer service if you can actually get someone to help you. They won't transfer your bags from one bus to another. You have to do it yourself.

If your bus is late they will try and help you. One time our bus was late getting into Salt Lake City and they wante me to share a hotel room with a complete stranger. Of course I stood my ground and refused and got my own room.

One thing you don't want to use is the bathroom on one of these buses. They are really bad and smelly. Greyhound is not a good means of travel nowdays which is sad for those with limited incomes. I would suggest Amtrak if they are available in your area.

Greyhound Bus tickets are great!

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

Greyhound has some pretty good traveling system! The bus are usally comfortable for small trips that don't take long to travel. The prices usally low but can become expensive in long trips! They are avaliable 365 days a year with more than 2,300 locations in the North AMerican region! They have a good will call pick-up for your tickets and fast! Their website is great to purchase from and makes getting the ticket great with no lines to deal with except picking up the ticket at the will call booth or line! Their the only Coaching service in America to go to different states without transfering to other services and buying more tickets! Nice easy riding quite and relaxing! No worryied driving and frequent stops to get food, merchandise. Thanks Greyhound!

Customer Service Representative

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

I got to the bus station to find out, that the bus had been cancelled due to weather. I hadn't been notified. I didn't know any better, but your supposed to call ahead of time to find out if it is, but having tried calling for a day and a half strait statistics say , no one is going to answer the phone and your only option is to get there with all your baggage ready to go. It was cancelled again.

I asked the clerk "Kumong"(a great person!) if I could exchange my ticket for an open ticket to be used in a year. She free of charge did this. No problem.

Now if Kumong is representative of Greyhound it can't be that bad.

Bad:Can't get anyone on the phone , any phone , any time.

No way to get answers. So Kumong -excellent. Alleged communication-nonexistant and there ought to be a law!

Two day's of cancels had people sitting in the greyhound station for two days, not good.

Road rewards are worth it

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I have travel Greyhound Bus several times a month for the last year. I love the fact that they have a particular proggram called road rewards. Which does help tremendously. I am constantly going out of town and the savings adds up.I would reccommend this to anyone who travels frequently with greyhound. I do have to say the part I really dont like however is when they are not on time which when I first started riding Greyhound it was on time with no problem. Then about six months into it,well they are usually about 10- 15 minutes behind schedule, which I know that if your connecting to another bus could mean a layover or behind in schedule altogether which could be nerve racking. But I would have to say over all, the price, time getting there, and the rewards for riding do add up to great savings, even alot a freebies which is great to take advantage of them. I would say if you ride Greyhound azll the time get the road rewards its well worth it.

Totally Unreliable

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

Yesterday my son was making a trip from El Monte to Los Angeles to Oakland. We arrived at the El Monte station at 11:40 AM and waited till 12:20, but the 11:55 bus never showed up. So we drove to the LA station hoping to catch the 1:05 connecting bus. We arrived at 12:45 and the bus never showed up, again. My son had to take the 4:10 bus and finally arrived at Oakland after 1 AM. He was to take the local bus to Berkeley but it has stopped running at that time. This is his first and last Greyhound experience.

DO NOT USE GREYHOUND

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

DO NOT USE GREYHOUND! If your bus is late or delayed, no one will contact you and customer service won't know what is going on, they will simply place you on hold, then hang up on you. My mom is waiting for her bus for 3 days in cold weather of UTAH. Take my advice and just fly or something.

Doesn't stop where ticket says

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

My son bought a ticket from DC to Wilmington,DE with a transfer in Baltimore.   When he went to board the bus in DC, the driver refused to let him (and others) on telling them that he was not stopping in Baltimore (though the ticket said it was) and left them all stranded to wait for the next bus 2 hours later (not a great area).  Worse yet is that there is no number to call on weekends to try to correct the situation.  We  will now always avoid Greyhound for any trip. Megabus has been great and we will continue to use them.

Extremely poor service, scheduling, customer service and support

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

Greyhound bus service is the worst bus service i've experienced. Very poor service, scheduling, customer service and customer support. They over-book the scheduled busses, causing people to have to wait 6 to 7 hours for the next bus. This just happend to my family member today. And to top it off, the bus was half hour late. I called the station, the could not tell me what time the bus would get there. It's horrible.
