Green Mountain K Cup Single Serving Coffee 108 Ct. Sumatran Reserve —

Looking for a bold coffee from your Keurig Coffee Maker?  You might want to try Green Mountain Coffee Roasters' Extra Bold Sumatran Reserve.  In my experience, this is about the boldest and strongest coffee that I've found for the Keurig.

I know, Keurig coffee is notoriously weak, but you do get a bold cup of coffee with the Sumatran Reserve.  Considering the bang you get from the k-cup, I'd imagine if you brewed some traditionally, it would probably knock your socks off.

I'm not all that good at identifying the exact flavor of a coffee so I'll go with what Green Mountain says when they describe this coffee as "extra bold, exotically lush, sweet and heavy bodied." I'd agree with everything except for the sweet part. If anything, I find the coffee more heavily bodied than anything else.

In all honesty, I probably wouldn't like the Sumatran Reserve if I was brewing it the traditional way since it would be too strong for me, however the Keurig moderates the brew a bit and it ends up being a coffee that I don't mind drinking. Even with the Keurig it is a brew that is stronger than I'm used to, but it does have a nice taste and in the morning, it's a good coffee to get you going.

My only issue with the Sumatran Reserve is that it can pretty easily turn my stomach if I am not eating something with it. That's more of a pain than anything else, but it's an example I guess of how strong the coffee is (or how dainty my stomach is I guess).

Another positive about this coffee is that it is considered a Fair Trade Organic coffee blend. That means that it's not only organic, but that the coffee bean farmers were paid decently for the coffee and grow it in a sustainable way.

My Take

Sumatran Reserve is not my favorite k-cup coffee brew, but it is not a brew that I simply won't drink.  It's perfect when I need a real pick up in the morning and I have already eaten something or am eating with the coffee.  What I like about this blend is that unlike many other brews for the Keurig, this one retains its boldness and its kick. If you like bold, strong coffee and have a Keurig, this is definitely a brew that you should try.
